About this listen

Humanity is about to learn it isn't alone.

Zack Quick has been on the move for 10 years, hacking big corporations and exposing their secrets. Then he stumbles upon one of the biggest discoveries that will forever change the world - and possibly get him killed.

Kaylan Farrow is the pilot for Earth's most advanced spaceship, whose maiden voyage is supposed to take her crew to Titan, but newly released images from a deep space probe threaten to cancel the mission.

Kept secret for 60 years, the discovery of an alien signal forces a NASA pilot and a computer hacker to team up to investigate an alien structure discovered in the farthest reaches of the solar system.

The Star Shroud is the first installment in an action-packed science fiction thriller series. If you like space opera adventure stories with clever heroes, impossible situations, and chilling discoveries, then strap yourself in; you're in for a fun, nonstop thrill ride.

Un intrigante libro

like the narrator, the feeling of the story transfer to a actual time for me. Want to use equipment in real time.

Alright

I had high Hope's for this book as I really like ken's first colony series. The premise is interesting but the story gets bogged down with the sloppy love quadrangle and parts seems like a trashy romance novel. That being said the end was intriguing and i will give the next book a try hopefully it gets better.

Not a self-contained book

There are two kinds of series.
- One is like the Laundry Files. The first story is self-contained, and finishes. It wouldn't matter if you ever read another book. While there are threads that continue, you don't HAVE TO continue to the next. (Although I did. Bob is great.)
- And the other is where each book is like a section of a large "book".
Star Shroud is the second type. It just finishes abruptly, with a cliffhanger. I do not like this type of series. The story is okay, but not enough to my liking to continue to the second book... which means that whole read was a waste.

Interesting premise

There are some interesting ideas that are being developed in this book. This book establishes a well thought world with interesting characters. The narration is terrifically executed.

A decently fun scifi adventure

This was one of those books that's just a reasonably fun read. It has some intrigue early on, then switches to space travel adventures and crazy developments starting with going to another planet.
Some of the main plot points and setup never quite feel realistic, and there are times where a character feels bizarrely uninformed about the world they live in to provide a lead-in to some exposition, but it's a light enough read overall that this doesn't hurt things too much.
Nothing earth-shattering here, just a decently fun time.

slow but not bad

I've listened to several of the series. so far it's slow to me. I find myself having to rewind because I get distracted easily. I admit later books get better but they are still slow. the story is good but could have been condensed for less money and plot played out the same. If the books cost 1/2 as much it would be worth it.

Good Story

The story was kind of slow at first but definitely worth the wait. I look forward to listening to the the next book.
