Resumen del Editor

The New York Times best-selling series continues in this heart-wrenching sequel to Defy the Storm where fans will reunite with fan-favorite Jedi Knight Reath Silas.

Written by the author of The High Republic: Eye of Darkness, The High Republic: Quest for the Hidden City, Dark Legends, and Myths & Fables, this next High Republic installment is perfect for fans of investigative mysteries, mythology, monster-hunting, and apocalyptic sci-fi.

It’s been over a year since the fall of the Starlight Beacon space station, and both heroes and villains alike must face the consequences of their decisions. When Jedi Knight Reath and Padawan Amadeo Azzazzo are sent on a mission to test their theories about the Nameless, they’ll come face-to-face with the terrifying creatures once thought to be myth—and learn the true meaning of fear . . . fear that fallen Jedi Azlin Rell advised them to embrace if they have any hope of defeating the monsters . . .

Essential High Republic story, well-told

One of the better High Republic books. A great combination of tension, mystery, and inner turmoil.

Great Story

I enjoyed the story immensely, but the voices of characters in this book don’t sound anything like their voices in other books, causing some confusion. Star Wars books also typically have sound effects and music, and this one did not, which was disappointing.

Amazing addition to Star Wars cannon!

This book adds to and builds upon Star Wars cannon. Not only do we get ties to stores spanning the entirety of the High Republic (books and comics!), but we get some [SPOILER] interesting teases of ancient history of the Star Wars universe.

All this within a fantastic story with my favorite nerdy Jedi, Reath Silas!

Great book but needed a different narrator

The narrator was female and did a good job but 90% of the characters were males. Just seems to make sense to have Marc Thompson do it

Drags at first but finishes well

The narration was ok but the pacing of the story must’ve made it incredibly difficult for the narrator to keep it engaging. Too much information was repeated too many times throughout the story, too many descriptions and exposition felt like copy and paste, and overall the story felt 100 pages too long because of it. Having said that, there are key elements to the overall story of the high republic that really can’t be missed and when the novel is at its best it is truly great. I still recommend it, and I hope that the narrator gets more (better) opportunities to demonstrate her skills in the future, but this was the first high republic novel that I struggled to get through. I am still glad I did, because it felt like a turning point for the series and left me feeling very excited for what comes next.
