Chloe’s new neighbor, ripped ex-soldier Mac, is as interested in her as she is in him and they both enjoy counting shooting stars on warm summer nights.
But one shooting star isn’t a natural phenomenon. It’s a starship with a badly injured alien inside who’s on a galactic mission of mercy.
Former military pilot Mac agrees to help complete the mission. He tells Chloe she can’t come. He doesn’t tell her why.
But Chloe has seldom traveled so on impulse she stows away, unaware she was left behind because the trip will be dangerous. Pirates are after the cargo of valuable drugs intended to end a plague on a distant planet.
The pirates find the starship, board it, and take Chloe hostage, forcing Mac to choose. He can save the woman he loves or the entire population of a far-away planet. But not both.
