Publisher's summary

A pirate and a high-born maiden, brought together by a legendary sword....

Dashing French pirate Jean-Philippe Beauvisage revels in a life of complete freedom...until the night at a ball in Georgian London, when a Russian beauty quietly steals his heart.

Heartbroken Antonia Varyshkova, who has lost her parents and her home in a St. Petersburg fire, stops in London en route to a new life with her brother in America. When her arrogant ship's captain, Tobias Ormond, insists that she attend a ball with him, Antonia reluctantly agrees.

The instant connection between Jean-Philippe and Antonia is soul-deep, but it seems that there cannot be a future for them. She sails off to America and he returns to his corsair's life at sea...until an ancient Roman sword which may be cursed forces Beauvisage to chase down the very ship carrying the woman he loves.

Take to the high seas with Jean-Philippe Beauvisage as he plots to capture his lady and win her heart of fragile stars.

Narrative excellent

I did not really care for the storyline, but Tim Campbell's voice is excellent

Loved This

If you could sum up Heart of Fragile Stars in three words, what would they be?

Exciting, Romantic, Dramatic.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Heart of Fragile Stars?

How to answer this without giving spoilers, hmm? OK well one of the memorable moments was after Antonia was rescued and she discovered who her hero was.

Which scene was your favorite?

I can't say without giving spoilers, but suffice to say that it was between Antonia and Jean-Phillipe.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes a few actually, but again I can't say which without giving spoilers.

Any additional comments?

This was a thoroughly enjoyable short story full of drama, passion, magic, danger and intrigue. The narration was great, with Tim having to do a variety of accents. His normal narrative voice is smooth and enjoyable to listen to, his cockney accent is fun, his Russian accent good, apart from the occasional moment when I thought he sounded like the Count from Sesame Street lol, but his French was suave and sexy especially when he is speaking to Antonio as the Captain. A wonderful achievement to manage all the voice characterisation and to do it so well.

Beautiful Novella

This is a fast paced, beautifully romantic story.
And Tim Campbell is brilliant in narrating this lovely story. He is magnificent at doing the different accents and brings great emotion to each character.
A must have!

Cynthia Wright, your books, what an adventure!

Tim Campbell, you are spectacular as
a Frenchman as you are a Highlander!
This story is about Jean-Phillipe
Beauvisage, a Frenchman, Pirate.
He meets Antonia Varyshkova.
They have chemistry at first sight.
Get ready for a love romance on the
High Seas.

Narrator is Perfect!

A pirate is called home to hear that their vineyard hasn’t been producing for the past two years. His mother is convinced it’s because she unpacked a cursed sword while going through old things. He is tasked with getting rid of it, “throw it into the sea.” While at his parents, he attends a social and meets a woman. He is instantly smitten and vows to find and wed her.
Tim Campbell makes this book great. His French accent is as good as his Scottish highlander. Wow wow wow.

Not my favorite, but it's a start

It's been a while since I've read/ listened to C. Wright's Beavisage/Raveneau books, so I thought to start at 1. It's not my favorite, but it's a start. How else would we begin but at the patriarchal beginning. on to Book 2.

Great book and awesome narration..

For only being 112 pages this was a very good short story, from the time Jean-Phillipe and Antonia met, with him dressed totally as a fop in pink and red and big white wig, to the time he rescued her from Tobias. And with it being only 112 pages I wasn’t surprised that it was love-at-first-sight for Jean-Phillipe. Unlike some reviewers I can’t take a star away from this story because it was “too short” or “too rushed.” How fair is that when you knew how many pages there were going in?

This was the story was about a man of nobility who chose to be a pirate. Of a cursed sword, and the attack on the Conquerer by Jean-Phillipe's ship Pursuit. There really never was a dull moment and you weren't left with unanswered questions. al least I wasn't.

Except for Tobias, who thought he was ‘all that,’ and Humphrey, who was just a big fat jerk, I did like the other players: Pierre, Zoya, Roland the monkey, and Étienne and Danielle, Jean-Phillipe’s parents. What I hated about it was the white wigs or powered hair. Yuck.

I won’t be going on with this series because I also hate when the hero and heroine grow old. I just want their HEA in the book I just read, and nothing more. Call me crazy.

There was sort of descriptive sex in this book, not too much, at the very end of the book. If you don’t want to read the sex part then don’t read past their wedding, because all the rest is ONLY sex. There was no swearing.

As to the narrator: Truly awesome! His French accent for Jean-Pierre and his parents sure sounded perfect to me. And the French words throughout the book sounded perfect, too. His emotional reading was wonderful! I love Tim Campbell’s narrations.

Good story

I like the story but it was rushed and too short. I would have enjoyed more detail and more time would be more realistic.

Okay Start To A Series

This is the 1st book in the Rakes & Rebels Series and I hope the rest of the series is better than this one. It wasn't bad but didn't really leave me wanting to read the remaining books. Tim did a good job narrating but nothing too special.
