Exquisite
I loved Taylor’s Daughter of Smoke and Bone Trilogy, so I picked this one up as soon as it came out in hardback—and then decided it was worth revisiting in audio, and I’m so glad I did. The narrator brought the world to life and left me hanging on every word. I can’t wait for the second book to come out!

This book felt like a dream I could live in
Laini Taylor blew me away with her exquisite writing and intensely intricate plotting. I had a lot of trouble forcing myself to take a breath and slow down to enjoy the book the way it deserves to be.
I loved how Lazlo's character was developed, frankly, how every character was, so thoughtful and deliberate. The mythology was spellbinding and felt so real, I was disappointed to finish the book, even more so when I realized I have to wait for the sequel.
This book was not only an excellent read, but one of those stories that stays with you for a very long time.

Big Laini Taylor Fan
I am a huge Laini Taylor fan - I've read/listened to the DOSAB series a number of times.
Her creation of fantasy worlds is so fascinating, intricate and internally consistent that you can't help falling right into them. She's really so very talented!
I didn't love this book like I did the previous series although I will reserve final judgment until I read/hear book 2. I have supreme confidence that the missing pieces in this book will neatly fall into place and I will love both volumes.
The voice acting for this performance is excellent. Adds wonderfully to the dreamy, fantasy feel.
