Publisher's summary

Introducing book one of Tess Oliver's addictive new paranormal series Boys of Wynter.

For thousands of years, Boys of Wynter have guarded the mortal world against the wraiths and demons who lurk aimlessly in the desolate shadows outside the underworld. The Boys have a reputation and they didn't earn that unsavory notoriety by being gentlemen.

Tasked with guarding the mortal world from the monsters beyond, Stryker is one of the most fearless and dangerous men to walk the earth. Years of excruciating training and work have left him both physically and emotionally hardened. When Stryker's work leads him to a desolate cabin in the tundra, he finds a woman who may finally be able to break through the wall around his heart. A woman who brings forth the true meaning of soul mate. A creature with an aura that could drive a man to madness.

Banished to an existence of solitude, Willow's entire world is upended when Stryker falls into her life. The imposing, tattooed stranger discovers her innocence and unleashes her true seductive power. Their intense physical attraction and instant connection awaken Willow to a whole new world of possible pleasures and pains. But just as fate threw them together, it could cruelly tear them apart.

Interesting PNR

Any additional comments?

This book was not only a new genre to me, paranormal romance, and a new-to-me author, Tess Oliver. After I got the hang of the paranormal lingo for the types of characters of this book in the first few chapters I found the storyline really drew me in. I liked the chemistry between Willow and Stryker was very steamy and the intimate scenes were described in a very erotic way. I am looking forward to more books from Tess Oliver.

Not enough paranormal activity...

Narrators: Lacy Laurel the voice of Willow: a female character warrior guardian of animals. I didn’t care for Lacy’s narration of Willow’s character. Her voice grated on my nerves each time her point of view was read.
The performance by Logan was deep, raspy, and masculine. I did enjoy Logan’s narration, although I never quite pictured Stryker during the narration. Stryker was a shifter and lived with the boys if Wynter.

They narrated in alternating points of view. While narrating their chapter section Logan would narrate all characters voices in his voice trying to sound the part of Willow. It was confusing listening to him voice a female character that already had a narrator. Same thing for Lacy. She voiced all characters including Stryker’s character trying to sound masculine. Personally I prefer the narration to be voiced by the original narrator.

Stryker was a character driven paranormal story. The Boys of Wynter, included Maximus, Wilder, Stryker and Flint. The Boys of Wynter guard the mortal world against the wraiths and demons who lurk aimlessly in the desolate shadows outside the underworld. They were fearless and powerful beasts cursed with both lycanthropy and mortality. At eleven years old these boys were trained to hunt.
Willow was the guardian of animals banished to an existence of solitude in the tundra. Having lived in the tundra for two years Willow had an insatiable lust towards Stryker’s well muscled and tattooed body. She was a hybrid nymph angel. This was an unforbidden romance between an angel and a beast.

A warning for the vulgar profanity, and vulgar slang. This was a sexual paranormal story. For the most part these characters appeared human yet had paranormal blood and immortality. These characters lived in the mortal world, yet very little paranormal activity took place in the story.

The imminent danger was an anticlimactic revelation. The backstory for raising, stealing, and training the Wynter boys was weak and vague. While this is a series each book is about one of the Wynter boys.
