About this listen

He was Tiger, born of the desert winds, raised as a slave and winning his freedom by weaving a special kind of magic with a warrior's skill. Now he was an almost legendary sword-dancer, ready to take on any challenge - if the price was right…or if the woman pretty enough.

She was Del, born of ice and storm, trained by the greatest of Northern sword masters. Now, her ritual training completed and steeped in the special magic of her own rune sword, she had come South in search of the young brother stolen five years before.

But even Del could not master all the dangers of the deadly Punja alone. And meeting Del, Tiger could not turn back from the most intriguing challenge he'd ever faced - the challenge of a magical, mysterious sword-dancer of the North…

good sword story

it was average book. i did not like the incredibly detailed explanation of surroundings using a vast vocabulary of colors. too much color-splaining. others may like it. tried to give 3 stars but only allowed 1?

Worth the Read/Listen

I for one loved the narrator. He sounds like the dean from Community and overall added to the enjoyment of my experience. Still sexy in its own way. Pleasant, entertaining listen.

Fantasy & sword dancing

LOVED the banter between Tiger and Del. I loved watching Tiger evolve over the whole series and I loved having a strong, intelligent female main character.

Not as good as I remember

I read this book from my grandmother’s collection when I was about seven or eight years old. I had remembered the swords being fascinating and that the story was exciting. As an adult, not so much. The story just feels shallow. The overt chauvinistic statements never hit me as a child, but they sure do now. The author also seems to have a fixation with the word “eloquent” and uses it often and incorrectly. I loved it as a child and am sad that my memories of it are now tainted by my adult perception.

loved the book as a teen

this was one of my favorites was a pre-teen and was excited to find it as an audiobook. unfortunately, the narrator was poorly chosen. I'm sure he is great for other characters just not this one. I would love to hear this read by RC Bray.

Excellent storytelling!

Wow! This author sure kept me entertained for the whole 12 or 14 hours I listened to her book. Sword Dancer was as interesting and surprising a book as I’ve “read” in a long time. I’m thoroughly pleased with this new author (to me) and I’ll definitely be buying more of her books!

Excellent Narration!

I really enjoy this series! The narration is excellent, the Story quite good. Only complaint (minor) is how often the author repeats past points, but it does help if you had picked up a book in the middle of the series. Third time listening and probably will listen again.
