Disjointed

Plot buildup is ok but the twists sometimes don't make sense. I wouldn't want to recommend

Brief and intense

action-adventure, Japan, kidnapping, mafia, read, short, undercover

Intense and somewhat violent, this short interlude grabs your interest and keeps it. The action is very easy to visualize.
Read by the author, he keeps it low key and thereby heightens the impact.
