Publisher's summary
"Another winner from a top-tier thriller writer." --Kirkus Reviews
Daniel Brasher left a high-paying job as a money manager to marry his community-organizer wife and do the work he loves, leading group counseling sessions with recently paroled ex-cons. Now he's about to start a private practice. But just before his last day on the job, Daniel finds an envelope in his department mailbox - one intended for someone else that was placed in his slot by accident. Inside it is an unsigned piece of paper, a note that says only "admit what you've done or you will bleed for it." along with a midnight deadline…which has passed. And the person to whom the envelope was addressed was found brutally murdered…
"A fast-paced roller coaster ride…well-written and extremely realistic." --Criminal Element
Soon, Daniel finds more warnings in his office mail, to people that the police cannot track down, and to victims that cannot be saved. Daniel's efforts, however, have alerted the killer to his involvement… and the next threat he receives is his own. Now, Daniel - with no clue what he's supposed to have done or to what action he must confess - must somehow appease, or outwit, a seemingly unstoppable killer. And time is running out…
"Menace, treachery, and intrigue have never been more exciting." --The Washington Post

Critic reviews
“Simply brilliant. Tell No Lies is infinitely more than a thriller, yet thrilling to the last page. Psychologically rich and often beautiful...A true page turner in which every phrase, every character, every little incident counts. Stylish, elegant, and absolutely riveting! An unforgettable read.” --Anne Rice
“A great book for any reader who wants to be chilled and entertained at the same time.” --Suspense Magazine
“A rollercoaster ride that is going to make your stomach flip upside down two or three times before it's through...Equal parts thriller and mystery, Tell No Lies is built upon the finest elements of both genres.” --The Book Reporter

Story
An ongoing string of high-profile and very public murder-suicides has San Francisco even more rattled than a string of recent earthquakes: A flamboyant fashion designer burns to death, clutching the body of his murdered lover. A superstar 49er jumps off the Golden Gate Bridge. And most shocking of all, a U.S. attorney launches her BMW off a highway overpass, killing herself and three others.

If you know Hurwitz, pay no attention to the negative reviews.
I don't normally right reviews, but I have to admit I was a little thrown off by the negative reviews before buying this book. Though I was hesitant to click the buy button on this book because of the naysayers, I stuck with my gut basted on past Gregg Hurwitz work. Simply, the guy knows what he's doing...so, I suggest, if ever you stumble on a book written by Hurwitz...you give it a try.

It's Gregg Hurwitz - DUH!
It's Gregg Hurwitz - DUH! What do I mean by that? Mr. Hurwitz not only writes books that are damn near impossible to put down, but he makes you "see" and "feel" the characters. Characters have flaws and they are mostly likable and sometimes not, but most of all, you can relate to the characters. Mr. Hurwitz also apparently does a great deal of research, because his books are full of details that other authors merely hint at. Mr. Hurwitz employs learned trivia to enhance the story. In this particular novel, a lot of San Francisco trivia is employed to great advantage for the story and the reader.

I'm telling no lie - it was ok
Is there anything you would change about this book?
Overall, I think that story was ok. I never got really excited about the characters and never felt my pulse racing because of the excitement. The performance was ok, too. Just not exciting.
Would you be willing to try another book from Gregg Hurwitz? Why or why not?
Maybe. Though, I don't really think that this is my favorite genre.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Scott Brick?
Depending on the book, I might.
Was Tell No Lies worth the listening time?
It was ok. So, I don't think I wasted my time listening - I'm just not excited about it.
Any additional comments?
This book was a book club choice that I would not have chosen myself. If you like the mystery/action genre - it might be a good choice.

Excellent Story, Excellent Performance
The story line here is phenomenal. Well written. Kept my interest.
However, as with all too many novels, there is too much cussing. That turns me off. It would be just as good without all that.
Scott Brick, per usual, doesn't disappoint. He's definitely in the top of his class.

Would you listen to Tell No Lies again? Why?
YES! I expected gritty - which is not my thing - but it turned out to be GREAT!
I'm not kidding when I say there were times when the hair on the back of my neck stood up.
If you can get thru the scene with the mirror or the windchime (ting, ting!) without that happening to you, you have ice water in your veins!
And I loved that it was so character-driven. I loved the main character - a therapist - and his wife. The mother was a fascinating wicked witch. The whole premise of the forewarnings of the murders had a new twist. Really liked Big Mac in group and I worried about Fang. These characters had reality breathed into them.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
So many ways. The set of threatening letters with advance warnings. Daniel continuing to go into danger - alone (cops were always three steps behind). The lady in the slicker, the mirror scene, the windchime, the Chinese restaurant, Christina staying home while Daniel went to talk with the arrested suspect, the entryway to the tunnel.....!!!!!
What about Scott Brick’s performance did you like?
I like Scott Brick & have listened to many of his books. He never disappoints me. LOVE his readings of Brad Meltzer books (The Millionaires is sensational; so is The Zero Game - I think these are Meltzer's best) and he also did a great job on the Namath biography.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Impossible but yes.
Any additional comments?
My first book by this author. Now I'm REALLY sorry I didn't buy the other one of his offered in the last sale!!!!!!!! I wasn't sure I'd like "gritty" but when that combines with such great characterization, gritty becomes great!

Gregg does it again!
So I’m hooked. I️ came across Gregg less than a year ago and I’ve bin-read all his content. And you know what I️ would say is the overall concept that keeps me checking for new content....his ability to really tap into human emotion! If that is vague, read one and get back to me

Just OK
The story was a little tedious. Scott Brick, although a good narrator, was probably not the best choice for this story. Three stars may be a little generous.

To drawn out
Scott brick was terrific! As always. Normally, I like twists and turns, but this novel had too many.

Gripping Psychological Thriller
Wow! I really got into this one by Gregg Hurwitz . . . and I'm a fan of Scott Brick . . . so no problems there. The setting in San Francisco brought back many memories for me, having visited there lots of times when we lived in California. I also identified with Cristina, Daniel's wife, who is totally repulsed by Daniel's mother and her "old money". The convicted felons in Daniel's therapy group are beyond interesting, and as the story progressed, I had NO idea who the murderer was. Great book!
