Publisher's summary

An insightful new work from the multimillion-copy best-selling author Sean Covey and the FranklinCovey organization, based on their work with hundreds of thousands of employees and large companies to unveil the essential disciplines proven to help businesses and individuals realize their most important goals.

A publishing phenomenon, Sean Covey and the FranklinCovey organization have become one of the most respected brands in the highly competitive world of thought leadership in business. In his latest work, Covey lays out an unprecedented plan for goal-realization that will revolutionize the way we approach our dreams.

The 4 Disciplines of Execution provides a simple, proven formula for achieving the goals that every individual or organization needs to reach. From Marriott to the U.S. Navy, Covey and his team have worked with more than 200,000 people in hundreds of organizations to improve performance, identifying and honing four secrets of perfect execution: Focus on the Wildly Important; Act on the Lead Measures; Keep a Compelling Scoreboard; and Create a Cadence of Accountability. By allowing teams to separate those urgent tasks that demand attention merely to keep a company alive - called the "whirlwind" - from new, "wildly important" goals that promise to break new ground, these disciplines empower leaders to accomplish what is by far the most difficult aspect of creating results: executing a strategy that requires a change in behavior. Simply put, this is a work that no business, however small or large, can afford to pass up.

Critic reviews

" The 4 Disciplines of Execution offers more than theories for making strategic organizational change. The authors explain not only the 'what' but also 'how' effective execution is achieved. They share numerous examples of companies that have done just that, not once, but over and over again. This is a book that every leader should read!" (Clayton Christensen, Professor, Harvard Business School, and author of The Innovator’s Dilemma)

Absolutely Amazing, Surprisingly Simple

The authors give you a highly logical structure discipline for identifying and accomplishing high impact goals at an organizational, team, and in the end, personal level.

I'm going to test the crap out of it. From what I've read before, it won't overload your brain with information and it's simple enough to be obviously actionable on any goal, but will be more useful because most likely it'll help you and any time find the one that is the most important.

This is the one book to read this year!

I read about 2 dozen books a year. Many I hope provide me better ways to think about and accomplish the goals I set out for my team and myself. This book could be the most important I’ve read in the last 2 years. For me it was the last few missing colors in a pallet I’ve been working on for as long as I can remember. I hope it is as impactful for you as it has been for me. Good luck!!

Strong enough to compell action!

I am sharing the book with our entire leadership team now! We intend to impliment the processes & principles throughout all departments of the company. I believe this process fits with our One Team culture. One of our team mission statements is to train equip and encourage every team member to be a part of our One Team! I can see how I can be a better leader for our team by being more focused on the (WIG) wildly inprotant goal. I work best when I narrow my focus! If I work best under these constraints I can only imagine how well the Team can perform with a narrow focus as well.

Good to listen

I did like the voice of the narrator. Make me feel I was listening to a good conference. Chapters are long enough.

Great framework

4BX is a great framework for helping people understand a new process to cheese much better results than do it in a way that actually makes a difference in the big picture.

Excellent in every area

Very good all around...only nitpick is the narrator in FAQ section almost lost me due to the 5th grade reading level BUT all the others and the concepts are exceptional.
