About this listen
Contains four short origin stories set in the Secret King universe.
Dealing with the Ainoren - William Humble:
Dalamaar orchestrates a complex plot to assassinate the King and the Ainoren, relying on numerous moving parts. However, unforeseen events and unexpected allies complicate his scheme, jeopardizing his plan. As tensions rise and loyalties are tested, the fate of the Ainoren hangs in the balance, leading to a suspenseful confrontation.
Octav's Rise: Written by Dawn Chapman:
Octav, entrusted with a secret mission, faces a dilemma when his friend Kendro urges him to deviate from the plan. This decision leads to disastrous consequences, threatening their world. As Octav and his new pilot bond, they must use all their strength and resourcefulness to rectify their mistakes and restore balance.
Calling the Summit: Written by Steve Kogan:
Following King Valor's death, Kendro seeks to claim his rightful place as King by meeting the Heart. Meanwhile, Octav, now the Ainoren, must convene a Summit to prevent war. Using his charm, Octav strives to defuse tensions and forge alliances. Kendro and Octav navigate political challenges and personal demons in their quest for unity and peace.
Chase Forgets: Written by Dawn Chapman:
Chase's life mirrors the upheaval around him as he argues with his mate and faces a new promotion that increases his time with Octav. Jealousy and insecurity plague him until he finds solace in a bar. There, an encounter with Octav leads to a passionate exchange of secrets, hopes, and dreams, changing everything.

Story
When you’re 11 years old, it’s tough convincing people to take you seriously. When you’re an 11-year-old savant, It’s exponentially more difficult. Since Jake’s inability to connect with others had made him somewhat of an outcast for most of his life, he’d learned to divert his energy into his artistic talent, creating mesmerizing images capable of literally paralyzing anyone who should gaze upon them.

Story
Most of the successful private prospectors who’d struck it rich during the California and Nevada gold rushes during the mid- to late-1800s, had journeyed westward with a specific plan from which they never deviated. Upon achieving their pre-defined goals, they packed up and returned to their original homes in distant regions of the United States. There were also plenty of others, who’d been unable to pull the plug after striking it rich, believing their lucky streak to be a never-ending one.

Entertaining stories
Dawn Chapman, Steve Kogan, William Humble wrote great space adventure stories. Joel Simler did a great job on the narration. The characters are well developed and so is the world they live in. The stories all involve the death of a king and the rise of an other. Each story is from a different point of view. The stories are interesting, entertaining, and leaves you wanting more.

The Events Which Led To Connections
I was entertained by these four short stories which described the events of the death of a king, the rise of another king, and the king's friend who was appointed as the king's guardian and confidante. I liked that these stories broadened my understanding of the culture of the Aonise. I enjoyed all the worldbuilding. I liked the characters. I'm looking forward to more stories in this creative world. I thought Joel Simler's narration was great, and his performance enhanced the story's entertainment. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.
