Excellent book and story

If you enjoy racing or high performance driving, or like dogs, this is a great book. One of my favorites and I highly recommend it. The only con I can find is the stupid muzak between some chapters, unnecessary.

Far and away the best dramatic novel I have listened to in 4 years as a daily Audible user!

All the tears 😢

This story is narrated by an aging dog who has seen the best and the worst experiences of his owner's life. There is a maturity in the dog's language that you don't get from other dog-narrator works. It really brings the story to life. There are moments in this book that will make you laugh and smile as well as cry and clinch your fists in anger. It's a special book just for the range of emotions alone. It will definitely have you hugging your dog a little tighter.

And not to spoil anything, there is a part of the book that stuck with me. The narrator ponders if knowing one's ailment simply results in resignation. It's an interesting thought, because you always think that when a person finds out why they're sick, they'll know what to do to treat it and thus will fight harder. This was the first time I had seen the opposite to be questioned. If you know the disease, will the hopeless of your situation make you start to come to terms with your own demise rather than fight it? This darn dog started quite an interesting discussion between my friends and me.

Great listen. I love dogs!

I needed a break from my usual genre and I kept listening until the end! My "in progress" mystery had to wait. 😉

A story of redemption and hope, riveting!!!

I would be very honest to tell you that this isn't an extraordinary story with suspense or romance or thrills filled in each chapter; but what I can tell you is it's a story which has the heart at its right place!! What makes it even more riveting is that it's been told from the point of view of the man's most loyal friend-the dog. Enzo(dog's character) teaches all of us a lesson in every walk of human life; be it never giving up, loving your family, fighting for what you believe in... This got me hooked up from the start and never let me get bored even for a single second. Great read and I hope you won't be disappointed by this!!! Go on and pick up your Ipod and give it a go....

Beautiful, but it will make you cry

Fantastic story, good narrator, intriguing combination of racing and a realistic family's struggle. But it's a tear jerker, you'll cry at the beginning, at the end, and maybe even in the middle.
