20 hours....worth the credit!!!

Although the reviews for this book were mixed I decided to try it out. I love it when they lump books together that are short and you get it for one credit as sometimes there are stories I would like to listen to put less than 7 or 8 hours is not worth the credit for me. Now, the book. I would have to agree with one of the reviews I read about the teenage attitude Baine has. She whines and complains and has child like behavior in the wrong settings. She has no respect for others and is rude to people who are trying to help her when it would be best to be respectful. This did become very annoying by the end of the 20 hours. The book was ok and the story was different and entertaining. There is not a suspense building aspect to the book, there are no big exciting scenes, but it does hold your attention ok. The narrator did a great job and made the story believable. You could tell the different characters easily. I would say if you are in between your favorite series and need something to pass the time this will do a good job.

Okay

Any additional comments?

As far as characters and story both are okay. Just okay. Narration is lacking and story is somewhat predictable. It is an okay listen, but could have been better.

Mage +Shifter+Humans in a magical parrelel world

This is a series that must be read first to last. Each book depends on the prior books.
the f word is on play a little too often as well as a few other gutter epitaphs.
then again the heroin is gritty in your face type of individual.
Laurel Schroeder pulls this series together and her dialects to me make this series a lot of fun to listen to.
so yes I will continue to purchase these Audible books.

A fun read!!!!

I bought this book on a whim mostly because it cost one credit and I was able to get three books I have a 14 hour Drive ahead of me and I needed something to pass the time at first I wasn't sure what to think of the series But as time went on the characters grew on me and the storylines and characters get more complicated by the time I was done with my drive I ended up buying the second set of three books and non stop listening till I completed book 6 yes the main character does start out very Juvenile and obstinate but she grows over time and becomes a truly enjoyable character.

Spicy and Sexy

What did you love best about The Baine Chronicles Series, Books 1-3?

The world was built well and was believable without extensive detail. It was exciting and spicy without being overly raunchy and callus. The main character was relatable and strong, I loved her.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Baine Chronicles Series, Books 1-3?

Hard to tell, all of it was wonderful.

Glad I went with the package

What made the experience of listening to The Baine Chronicles Series, Books 1-3 the most enjoyable?

The set works well together much better than I imagine it would as individual books. I believe I would have been left unsatisfied if I had purchased just one book at a time. The story flows from one book to the next more like they are really 1 book instead of 3.

Which character – as performed by Laurel Schroeder – was your favorite?

I enjoy different aspects of each character. I really enjoy the distinctive voices each character has and the personality she brings out in each one. I particularly enjoy her version of lord Iannis.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes! I did not want to stop and had to grab the next bundle right away to continue the story. I can't wait to see where it all goes.

Any additional comments?

It's not perfect and there are some things I wish were done a little differently but overall I think it's a great story that keeps your attention and has just enough action and just enough romance without either being too dominating. This is a series I am sure I will listen to again.

Don't judge the series by the first book

I am about to start book four and am looking foreword to audible doing more of her books. Don't give up on this series because of the first book. Sunaya is annoying and not likable at all but she grows up after the first book. Also I don't like how the first book was written at all and the first half of the second book is not a giant leap better but if you can make it that far, you'll be rewarded moving forward. Not my favorite series but Jasmine Walt is either growing on me or growing as a writer because I'm looking forward to the next book.

Many facets excellently placed

The different elements woven into the story were intriguing and fun. A phone to a horse drawn carriage to swords, flying balloons and dirigibles. All were expertly placed.

Decent YA light read, but no Patricia Briggs

Any additional comments?

Books 1-3 are enjoyable as a light read for a teen audience. For adults, they lack depth and sophistication of plot and character.

I love urban fantasy and enjoyed the world building in these books. There are some fun, original ideas. The main character is at times likable and other times immature, bratty and entitled. She wants to be respected but doesn't give respect. But mainly, I found her to be unconvincing as an enforcer or a panther/shifter. There are much more believable characters and more exciting fight scenes in Patricia Briggs Mercy Thompson series, Faith Hunter's Jane Yellowrock series and Mark Henwick's Bite Back series.

Narrator did a decent job but needs to slow down a bit.

Overall, the books are well written and flow well. I would give them more stars if they were more developed and the main character was more believable in her role.
