Publisher's summary

The story of The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is very difficult to describe. Usually we give some information about the audiobook, but in this case we think that would spoil the listening. We think it's important that you start to listen without knowing what it is about.

If you do start to listen, you will go on a journey with a nine-year-old boy named Bruno. (Though this isn't a story for nine-year-olds.) And sooner or later, you will arrive with Bruno at the fence.

Fences like this exist all over the world. We hope that you never have to encounter such a fence.

Sensitive Great Read

The perspective is honest and assumptions make this book endearing. A subject we need to not forget.

Enlightening

What a different perspective without negating the atrocities that occurred. This opened our family to a deeper discussion

Much Better than the Movie

I was very impressed by "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas". It is an interesting take on a horific event told with such innocence that I cried many times throughout the story. Thank you Audible.com for caring this book!

Excellent!!

If I could rate this 10 stars I would. Gripping story; a must read for older children and adults alike. Much, much better than the movie. I highly recommend this book.

Excellent

I loved this book and didn't remember when I started reading that it was the book of the great movie -- that I never got to see. I can visualize why the movie was a success -- the book is excellent -- I listen to quite a bit of Holocaust literature (more is becoming available at audible.com) and I think this is the first time I've read a book taking the standpoint of a German family during the Holocaust -- and an officers family no less. It's written in a way that is certainly not sensational thus an excellent addition to required reading for high school students. The innocence of the boy might be difficult to accept, but it was a different time. I just wish the book was longer (more detail at the end.)

Very moving

From a 9 year olds point of view. It’s extremely sad yet moving. A must read.
