Kidnapped and held hostage after a bank robbery, college freshman Beth Farell falls in love with Glenn, a reluctant participant in the kidnapping. While she and the two other victims struggle to survive in the wilderness of north-central Washington, Beth works hard to keep her growing attraction to the handsome young cowboy hidden.
But it’s not long before the hostages are rescued, and the world discovers Beth’s secret. Worse, so-called experts insist that she is feeling nothing more than capture-bonding. Beth disagrees, but what can she do? Glenn is out of her reach, and she must move on.
A new job with World Relief in Africa appears to be Beth’s answer to a new life. However, when she meets Andrew, a young missionary, memories of Glenn are reignited. Can Beth start a new life, or will Glenn haunt her memories forever?
"The Captive" has grown into a series, The Taken Trilogy. Each book features one of the three women kidnapped in book one, "The Captive."

crime and love
This was one heck of a wild ride. I don't think I'd have the courage these girls had, and I admired their bravery and fortitude. I was thinking Stockholm syndrome was at play here, but I was proven wrong in the end. The suspense and drama kept me listening. This was a real emotional rollercoaster of a read. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a great job bringing it to life. The voices and expressions brought depth to the story. I recommend this book.

The narrator did a superb job with the various characters and locations. Story was insightful and compelling. Good mix of mystery, romance and cops and robbers. Many surprises with emotional ups and downs. This review was written by Ron Wise.
