Publisher's summary

One of the best-known collections of W. B. Yeats' prose, The Celtic Twilight explores the old connection between the Irish people and the magical world of fairies. Yeats, by traveling the land in the early 20th century and talking to the common people about their experiences with the creatures, yielded a colorful overview of Celtic fairy folklore.

A compilation of Irish folklore in prose

From the personal notes of the great poet, this short volume highlights the tales told in the early twentieth century by the rural people of Ireland. This is not a genealogy of the Fae, but the sort of pleasant storytelling that people everywhere used to enjoy in the days before TV, mobile phones, and Pokeman Go.
Happily, the narration is not in a heavy brogue poorly understood by North American ears. Narrator Jack's performance does not distract from the work, but makes it more like the fireside listens that Yeates recounts.

Enjoyed the narrator and collections!

I recently traveled to Dublin and attended a Yeates exhibit at the Irish National Library. throughout my travels around Ireland and listen to many stories about fairies, and saw many fairy trees in the countryside and of course this peaked my interest especially after the exhibit and seeing the original writing of Celtic Twilight. The narrator beautifully brought to life the words of the W.B Yates short stories. It was both entertaining and enjoyable to listen to the gifted writer and his literature.

Perfect for people who know what to expect

Ah, I love this book. It captures so much of the Irish spirit and tradition. Not only in the content, but the narrator does a fine job of it as well. I can't imagine everyone happening upon this and falling in love with it, but if you know roughly what to expect I believe you'll be overjoyed. It is truly able to transpose the reader to a different time and place. And what, if not the ability to do that, is a better sign of a masterful story?

Perfect Narrator

This was a great collection of Irish lore, just the kind of thing I wanted to read, or perhaps even better than I might have ordered. Then they gave it an ideal narrator.

Excellent all around.

Audible needs to do more classic literature this well for those of us who don't like modern fiction as much as old school fiction.

Unique stories and Perfect Narration

The text is a great mix of folklore and stories about the people and time.
It's exactly what you want to hear to wind down from a long week,
a collection of stories each are unique, with a narrator who's voice fits the piece and period.
Absolute PERFECTION.

Could listen to this over and over again.
