Publisher's summary

Wife to a gambler who took one too many risks, Rahab finds herself sold as a slave to cover her husband's debt. Forced into prostitution, she despairs of ever regaining her freedom and her self-respect. But when Israelite spies enter Jericho and come to lodge at her house, Rahab sees a glimmer of hope and the opportunity of a lifetime. In one risky moment, she takes a leap of faith, puts her trust in a God she does not know, and vows to protect the spies from the authorities.

When the armies of Israel arrive weeks later, Rahab hopes they will keep their promise, but she has no idea what kind of challenges await her outside Jericho's walls - or if she will ever know the meaning of love.

Under Jill Eileen Smith's talented hand, the familiar story of Rahab bursts forth in high definition. Immerse yourself in a world of dark and dusty streets, clandestine meetings, and daring escapes as a mysterious biblical figure claims her full humanity - and a permanent place in your heart.

The Book is Very Good, Not the Performance

I like this author a lot. I wish she would have used a different narrator. The narrator sounded like a robot. It made it hard to listen to. The story is very good. So it was disappointing to have the narration so bad.

Nice story, good character development

I too always wondered how Rahab might have ended up where she was - God works all things to good, this was an interesting and plausible scenario

Rahab

This is the first book I’ve read on Rahab. I truly enjoyed this rendition and the authors honesty, and I love seeing how God would have worked through her situations to bring her to him.

I couldn't stop listening.

I know quite a bit of the story of Rahab is unknown but the author presents plausible and engaging possibilities. I loved it. I cried!

Wonderfully imagined story of Rahab

Rahab came to life in the Book of Joshua, Chapter 2, for saving the lives of two spies prior to the destruction of Jericho. She was described as a prostitute, but there is no context. This event would have been one of those minor stories found throughout the Old Testament if it were not for the mention in the genealogy of Jesus in the first chapter of Matthew where Rahab is listed as the grandmother of David. So, we are left to wondering about this remarkable woman.
The author presents a full life of Rahab despite the lack of source ,
Material. She depicts Rahab as being forced into prostitution and then receiving redemption by her conversion. All wonderfully imagined and well developed. Rahab comes to life in this credible story.
I do have one slight quibble with the author's use of the term "Israelites." According to the Everyman Bible Dictionary, the term "Israelites" was not used by the gentile Canaanites, it was a term used by the tribes of Israel to refer to themselves, and only came into popular usage during the monarchic period. The Canaanites would have more likely used the term "Hebrews" as the term "Jews" came about near the exilic period.

The Crimson Cord

The story was well written with the little detail found in scripture. It was a heart warming story of redemption and God’s saving power. It revealed how purpose works and it’s impact on the lives of others. I praise God for these positive novels.

Truly forgiven

I hated hearing all the hardships Rahab went through and how she suffered so much. But I loved how God redeemed her, forgave her and blessed her. I have experienced his love that way and it makes me love him even more. Thank you for this book.
