Publisher's summary

Dignity provides the context where people can flourish.

There is no inclusion or belonging without dignity. Dignity is the missing ingredient to today's workplace.

Workplaces are suffering with low employee engagement, difficulty retaining talent and creating an environment for each person to thrive. If we look to policies to make the change, we will keep struggling.

A new response is needed to the contemporary workplace, one that goes beyond policies and procedures into our heart, head, and hands.

This book gets to the bottom of what is needed to flourish in today's workplace.

The Dignity Gap will teach you:

  • How to put dignity first
  • To improve workplace culture
  • How to overcome objectification
  • How to retain talent
  • To close the dignity gap

In this tangible and relatable book, Bob Fabey uncovers the most important aspect to workplace flourishing and maybe flourishing in all our interactions.

The workspace has gone through enormous changes and challenges in the past several years. Not only are companies struggling to embody our society more fairly through diversity and inclusion practices, they are dealing with work from home, changes in generational workforces, and ever-evolving technology just to name a few. Those who adapt survive. Those who don't die. But those who address the root cause will thrive.

Bob Fabey's work on dignity helps CEOs, managers, employee relations, and human resource professionals deal with the real problem in the workplace; closing the gap that exists in the most critical area of every workplace-relationships. Showing how our brains function and how we operate from places of fear, The Dignity Gap gives you practical tools to put into place to close the gap between where you want to be and where you are.

Going beyond policies and procedures, The Dignity Gap gets to the head, heart, and hands of all of us who make up today's workspace and challenges the norms causing the gaps we see. You will increase retention, productivity, engagement, and a positive workplace culture when you close The Dignity Gap.

Addressing the necessity of dignity in our corporate run culture

We are in an interesting time in US history. Perhaps world history. The Greatest Generation is gone . The Baby Boomers are retiring out of workforce. The greatest wave of human created wealth and innovation that has ever been known is retiring out of the U.S. workforce with no replacement available. We are already seeing this result as large areas of the country have become increasingly competitive for workers . Bob Fabey does an excellent job of breaking down what is or perhaps has been missing from our working environment. Backed up with citations of his sources , Bob explains how every person is born with Dignity as a human being and how that needs to be recognized in the workplace and in life . Indeed , how many opportunities have we as leaders missed to enrich the lives of our employees by simply paying attention to them and listening to what they have to say ? The cost of turnover is enormous . Treating people with dignity will help our trending HR issues of today become a solid growth opportunity for the future.
A must read book for corporations with regional leaders and branch managers.
