Not Child's best

This was rather disappointing. I don't know if it was the dreary narration or a story that never seemed to get going, but I found it difficult to listen to this and pay attention. I finally gave up re-listening to parts I missed and finished it. I found that I just didn't care enough about the story to fill in the missing bits.

Another fine story by a master storyteller!

I always enjoy the depth of description in Mr. Child's books. It makes you feel like you are actually walking through his stories with him.

Couldn't put it down. I was worries since Third Gate wasn't up to snuff but this one sure is.

Altogether enjoyable

Engaging and entertaining from the first sentence to the last. I never felt bored. It never felt like filler that was dragging you along. I really enjoyed this book and the way it played out!

I enjoyed this book but Third Gate was better. Jeremy seemed a little too much like the average detective in this one.

Classic Lincoln Child!

As always, Lincoln Child sets his charachters and storyline in such a way as to set the hook deep. Once you've surrounded yourself with the story, it's impossible to put it down and disappointing when it's over. This book reconfirms that Lincoln Child is one of the best "Story Tellers" of our time!

First Lincoln Child book and I'm a fan

Enjoyed the story, characters and character development. Every twist and turn was thoroughly enjoyed. This will probably end up on my repeat read list!

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

It seemed like Mr McClain did not know how to pronounce some words,tripped over some and his Scottish accent was less believable than I run into at the Renaissance Faire.

I wanted to like this book.I found it interesting in spots and WAY too wordy in others.There is too much repetition.Did I mention that there is too much repetition?The story could have been great.An acclaimed investigator of the paranormal is asked to visit a 'house' where a professor has died.He runs in to a forgotten room.

Bleh. Hard time finishing.

First, I would like to point out,this is not a stand alone novel. In fact, its 4th in the series. Would have been nice for Audible to indicate this. I have no intention of listening to the others. The book never picked up pace. The narration was ok, but voice didn't seem to suit the characters. In the end, i cannot put my finger on it, but the story just seemed bland....and ridiculous. Not worth the credit.

Abit derivative, but in the normal Child manner

Would you try another book from Lincoln Child and/or Johnathan McClain?

Of course. The narrator is no RC Bray or Mr. Brick, but he does a solid job here. As for Lincoln, well, we all know what we will get from him. Well researched action.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I am not skillful in such things to offer suggestions, but some more conspiracy is always entertaining.

What about Johnathan McClain’s performance did you like?

Good accents, solid and consistent.

Solid, nothing wild but good story well performed. Entertaining and amusing. Recommended.
