About this listen

"The past is never where you think you left it." -Katherine Ann Porter

Professional quarterback Austin Riley has always been smitten with his childhood "enemy," Sommer Hayes. Having known each other their entire lives, the majority of their relationship exchanges have been sneers, insults, smirks, and jeers.

Now, 10 years have passed since he last stepped foot in his hometown. Austin and Sommer run into each other again only to discover that they both share the same secret: their hatred toward one another was merely a cover-up for the true feelings they'd kept hidden.

They finally have a chance to explore the relationship that could have been, but jealousy corrupts their newfound romance. Austin is forced to face a past that threatens to destroy him, define him, and push away the woman he's been waiting his entire life to love.

The auxiliary story was more riveting than the romance

I really didn’t get the deep bond between the two main character, so it kind of made the entire story a little bit hard to believe. the elements towards the end with the family drama was probably the best part of the book but it’s really hard for me to like love. A romance were in the romance between the two main characters isn’t felt very deeply.

I Love This Story

I love this story about Austin and Summer. It is such a sweet love story with a few twist and turns . But the HEA is really worth the journey. K. Alex Walker is a brilliant story teller. I don’t want to give away the plot but just know that you will love this book!

Narration UGH

Narration ruined this book for me. Money down the drain. Story may have been good, even excellent but could not finish this book. Wish I could get my money back.

Great story, but narration needs LOTS of work

The story was excellent. I truly enjoyed following Austin and Sommer's journey. I had to take one star away for the narration. I don't know who thought that that was a good voice for Austin, but they need help. The narrator made Austin sound like maybe he has had too many blows to the head. It was just weird.

Cute story

Very hard to stay engaged during the reading of the story. The story was cute, but the narrator’s nasally voice used for Austin was really bad. Also, it was very clear to me when the narrator was transitioning from one page to the next. The slight pauses in the sentences were noticeable. I wish they chose Wesleigh and Jakobi to read. They can make a bad story great with their performances.

Summer’s Personality & Laurel’s Voice Made This Unbearable

I pushed through this story because of Austin and I needed to see Kyle the super villain finally caught. I wish Summer was written better she was unbearable combined with the narrator’s lisp I was yelling at my IPad. Like she really didn’t want to tell Austin about her pregnancy? Thank goodness her mother would have forced her hand if she didn’t. Allowed Kyle to play in her face after kicking her out?! Kept their relationship a secret and didn’t want his support. Austin’s only fault was that he listened to Summer when clearly she was an idiot. She was pretty but an idiot. Anyway I’m still going to read the follow up.

Loved the Book book.... Kind of

I read this book on my Kindle, and loved it. So I decided to get the audio version. I tried to listen, but the narrators' "Austin" voice is just irritating. I've attempted to listen several times. I enjoyed all the other voice variations for the other characters, but I can't stomach Austin's' voice.

If you can get over the narrator

The story line was really good but the narrator sucked the fun and meaning out of the story. It was hard for me to get through it but I struggled though and am glad I did because the story was heart felt.
