One Christmas Eve he is visited by the ghost of his former business partner Jacob Marley and the spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come and given a glimpse of the many homes and lives which Scrooge has touched in his wretched life to date. After their visits, Scrooge is transformed into a kinder, gentler man.

In Hoffmann' story, the mad scientist Dr Cornelius uses eyes to animate robots he builds. One of these machines, "mein bestes Automat", disrupts the love affair by wooing the protagonist from his true love.

The narration is a lot and the stories are just as much
These stories are kind of like those of Gogol, and with John McDonagh's narration the overall production is very much like Peter Batchelor reading Gogol's Collected Stories.
If you came here for "The Nutcracker" and similarly festive stuff, turn around and find something with that up front in the title. These are weird, and the narrator leans in hard on that.
