About this listen
The "Gospel of Nicodemus," also known as the "Acts of Pilate" or the "Book of Nicodemus," is an apocryphal text that holds a significant place in Christian tradition and literature. This ancient work is not included in the canonical New Testament, but it has been an important part of Christian storytelling and theological discourse for centuries. The book is often divided into two parts: the "Gospel of Nicodemus" and the "Acts of Pilate," each offering unique insights into the events surrounding the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The "Gospel of Nicodemus" opens with the trial and crucifixion of Jesus from the perspective of Nicodemus, a Pharisee who secretly followed Jesus and later became a disciple. It includes an account of Jesus descending into Hades, where he preaches to the souls of the dead and rescues the righteous figures of the Old Testament, such as Adam and Eve, from the power of death. This part of the text is also sometimes referred to as the "The Descent into Hell."
The "Acts of Pilate" is a more extensive section of the text and primarily consists of the proceedings that took place during Jesus's trial before Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor of Judea. It features discussions between Pilate, Herod, and other key figures, as well as the testimony of various witnesses, including the centurion who oversaw the crucifixion and Longinus, the Roman soldier who pierced Jesus's side with a lance. It provides additional details about the events leading up to and following the crucifixion, shedding light on the political and religious context of the time.
The "Book of Nicodemus" is notable for its emphasis on the redemptive power of Christ's sacrifice, his descent into Hades, and his ultimate victory over death and the devil. It also highlights the conversion and testimony of Nicodemus, illustrating the transformative impact of encountering Jesus.
While the "Book of Nicodemus" is not considered part of the official Christian canon, it has had a significant influence on Christian art, literature, and theology throughout history. It has been the source of inspiration for various artistic representations of the Passion and Resurrection of Jesus and has contributed to the development of Christian eschatology and ideas about the afterlife. The text has been preserved in different versions and translations over the centuries, attesting to its enduring relevance within Christian tradition.

Story
The rarely heard inspirational stories of the Apocrypha brought to life in this unique audiobook. In Biblical terms, ‘Apocrypha’ is a much-misunderstood term - and the title belies the immense significance of the 14 books to which it refers, all of which were originally published in the 1611 King James Bible but removed in 1885. Most of those books have always been in the Roman Catholic, Greek and other Orthodox Bibles and therefore are accepted as true Scripture by the majority of Christians.

Story
The Book of Jubilees, sometimes called 'Little Genesis', is an ancient Jewish book that retells many of the stories in Genesis and Exodus with some additional details. It has been known in the West only since the 1840s, when European travellers acquired manuscripts from monasteries in Ethiopia. Then, in 1949, a complete Hebrew manuscript was found amongst the Dead Sea Scrolls. It is considered canonical by the Ethiopian Orthodox Church and one of the pseudepigrapha by Protestant, Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Churches.

The book of Enoch was thought to be lost for over 2,000 years until, in 1773, a traveller brought three copies back from Ethiopia. Whether or not this ancient book was actually authored by Enoch, the father of Methuselah and great-grandfather of Noah, is an ongoing debate among historians and theologians. But all recognise the book of Enoch as one of the most important apocalyptic works outside of the Bible.

Story
The King James Version of the Bible, with its flowing language and rhythmic prose, has had a profound influence on the literature of the past 400 years and is the greatest English translation ever produced. Early in the 19th century, however, the British and Foreign Bible Society decided to exclude the 14 books known as 'The Apocrypha'. Today, English Bibles with the Apocrypha are becoming more popular again. Now for the first time, the original unexpurgated version of the King James Bible - complete with all of the Apocrypha - is available as an audiobook

Story
It’s not often that you come across a document of such religious and historical importance as The Septuagint Genesis – in fact its significance would be hard to overstate. But what is the Septuagint? Well, its name refers to the “seventy’ (actually 72) translators – six from each tribe of Israel – who translated the Hebrew Scriptures into Greek, the primary language of Jews in Egypt at the time. This, the oldest and arguably most important translation, was the version of The Bible that Jesus himself would have read – and the one from which almost all the New Testament’s writers were quoting.

Story
The Apostolic Fathers are the Christian writers from the first and second centuries who are thought to have been disciples of the Apostles or to have been so directly influenced by the Apostles that their writings are considered echoes of genuine Apostolic teaching. Their writings form a link of tradition that binds these writings to those of the New Testament. Chief among the apostolic fathers are the three first-century Bishops: St. Clement of Rome, St. Ignatius of Antioch, and St. Polycarp of Smyrna, who were disciples of St. Peter and St. John.

The ancient Toltecs believed that life, as we perceive it, is a dream. We each live in our own personal dream, and these come together to form the dream of the planet, or the world in which we live. Problems arise when our perception of the dream becomes clouded with negativity, drama, and judgment (of ourselves and others), because it's in these moments of suffering that we have forgotten that we are the architects of our own reality and we have the power to change our dream if we choose.

Story
Just before Christmas in 1843, a debt-ridden and dispirited Charles Dickens wrote a small book he hoped would keep his creditors at bay. His publisher turned it down, so Dickens used what little money he had to put out A Christmas Carol himself. He worried it might be the end of his career as a novelist. The book immediately caused a sensation. And it breathed new life into a holiday that had fallen into disfavor, undermined by lingering Puritanism and the cold modernity of the Industrial Revolution.

Most of those books have always been in the Roman Catholic, Greek and other Orthodox Bibles and therefore are accepted as true Scripture by the majority of Christians.

awesome testimonial!
This was a first-hand view of what Pilot saw after Jesus was raised from the dead. I've listened to the whole thing in an hour. I will probably want to hear this testimony again. Books like this give me such hope in the Lord Jesus.
