Publisher's summary

Leslie Charteris had no way of knowing that the Hindenburg was hurtling toward catastrophe. But like his crime-fighting character, the Saint, Charteris has an eye for trouble. First the famous mystery writer suspects the German airship has received a bomb threat. Then he discovers a passenger has mysteriously disappeared.

Convinced the man was pushed overboard, Charteris conducts a covert investigation. But the vanished man turns out to be an undercover Nazi agent, and all of the passengers who fell under his surveillance have a motive for murder. Fearing a grander plot to destroy the airship, Charteris scrambles to find the killer - before it all goes up in flames.

Reconstructing the zeppelin’s fatal flight on the eve of World War II, The Hindenburg Murders proves that Max Allan Collins is the master of hard-boiled historical fiction.

A happy, for me, find

First, I love Leslie Charteris for his wit and amazing writing skills. To have found this book that "stars" the Author was exciting, and it was so well written, and of course the performance delivered by Simon Vance gave the story legs, I am agog with delight. The history of The Hindenberg never captured my imagination, until now. I am so happy that Max Allan Collins made this possible. The author's notes following the story wrapped the whole thing up in quite a tidy package.

Great historical mystery

This is a great addition to Max Allan Collins disaster series. It’s also an homage to Leslie Charteris author of The Saint series of novels, TV Series, movies etc. I am not sure this is as strong a story as some of the others but it is still great fun.

Narrator took some getting used to

Wonderful plot. Possibly the best one of the series. Historical details well researched as usual. As main character is British, it makes sense narrator have British accent, it just takes a little getting used to.
