This is probably one of the most important books I've ever read. I can't recommend it enough.

Eye-opening and thorough

The author's overall understanding of what's happening in our brains as a result of propaganda, scientific advancements and medicine is eye-opening and disturbing. I agree that this understanding is a crucial one for us to see, so we can all wake to and do something about it. Each one of us has an opportunity and an obligation to speak up about the truth of what we see and experience.

However, I disagree with the author's assessment of the basic goodness of humanity and the meaning of the biblical Garden of Eden story. He would have been wise to consult theologians on this issue and really study Genesis to get a better understanding of the doctrine of original sin.

Since humans are made in God's image, there are many who do good and even awe-inspiring things. And yet left to our own devices, we do really fall short of being completely good. In each one of us, there is a propensity to do some really selfish and destructive things.

Since the author didn't consult with those who know the biblical narratives best, he used his own understanding of the Fall narrative and failed to take into account the entire story of Genesis which shows that God created the world and humans very good until we chose to separate ourselves from God's view and did what was right in our own eyes. And indeed that current underlies the author's entire book as an explanation for much of what's happening in the world today.

Part of the original "shalom" in the Garden of Eden was our relationship with God. The failing in the garden was not curiosity and desire for knowledge, it was the willingness of humans to fall under the spell of deception and allow truth to be twisted. Once under the deception, Eve chose to go against all the good she had at her disposal to follow a creature she didn't know hated her.

A wellspring of hope.

Well researched treatises on current global conditions as they relate to the function of our brain.
Puts forward plausible cause and possible solutions for the advancement of mankind.
The narration was pitch perfect. The subject matter, even though very scientific, was put forward in an easy way to understand.
A must read for anyone trying to make sense of the most current past and frightening predictions of the future.
Cause for hope.
