About this listen

Jack Sparks died while writing this book.

It was no secret that journalist Jack Sparks had been researching the occult for his new book. No stranger to controversy, he'd already triggered a furious Twitter storm by mocking an exorcism he witnessed.

Then there was that video: 40 seconds of chilling footage that Jack repeatedly claimed was not of his making, yet it was posted from his own YouTube account.

Nobody knew what happened to Jack in the days that followed - until now.

Not sure how this one slipped under my radar....

THIS. BOOK. WAS. AWESOME!!!! Don't skip over this one!! It has biting wit, hilarious moments, and some decent horror as well. I will be trying anything else Mr Amopp puts out. Easily a top pick of the year in my eyes. The narrorator nailed it as well. Thoroughly enjoyable!

MAN! That was wild

At first, I thought that it was slow and I was put off by the MC, but that kind of made me want something to happen to him because he’s such a sack. I never expected any of that though. It was like when the pieces fall into place you become aware of a puzzle you didn’t know you were doing. I’m actually really impressed at how unpredictable that ended up being. I highly recommend going into this title blind because, wow. It was good!!

The book was bit choppy on several of the chapters like production value was down however that may just be my phone the story was not taken from and it is a very very good story I do recommend you read this

Prepare to dislike the "author"

Written almost as if it is 'happening' right in front of you, The Last Days of Jack Sparks is an emotional, creepy portrayal of first a realistic egotistical author trying to make a buck and in the end hadn't evolved into much more than he was in the beginning. For instance, when a death occurs (and there are a few) Jack doesn't feel pity or nausea, but instead thinks of how much money this current book will make once released. Jack Sparks didn't learn anything, but we learn plenty about him. All along you feel that he is troubled, misunderstood, and has a needlessly tough exterior because of what he's been through in the past, but really he's just an English git. Exploitive, manipulating, drug addicted git. Despite disliking him, he is an incredibly real, albeit flawed guy who finally caught up to his own misgivings about the supernatural. He knocked on the door and the spirit that answered wouldn't let go. Worth a read, but don't expect Jack to redeem himself as human.

rare originality

I've been getting into horror literature for the past year or so and have to say that while this isn't my favorite it is definitely the most original. it never bored me and that's quite rare when dealing with novels. I would recommend this to anyone who is a fan of any genre for that very reason.

Main character was an A-hole

I thought the narrator did a great job. I did laugh at his Italian accent, reminded me of a Star Wars character.
The main. character Jack is extremely unlikeable, and because of that, I didn't feel pity for him.

I really liked the core story, especially the supernatural parts, however, it dragged on too much, and I found myself somewhat confused as to what was actually happening. More than a few times I found myself saying out loud, " OK, enough, I get it, move on!"

The thinking person’s spook story

Beautifully written and brilliantly read by Joe Jameson, this is by turns a thought provoking, hilarious and mega creepy yarn. Just when you think you know Jack, author Arnopp throws another curveball. Can’t say enough about the quality of the narration. Completely original, highly recommended.

Wow! Very good!

Took a chance on this book and so glad I did. First and foremost, the narrator is amazing! He totally sells this book (very talented.) The author did a wonderful job with this story. It was witty at times and downright creepy too. The ending was PERFECT! So many authors can write a fantastic storyline, but fail with their conclusions. Arnopp, well done!!!

biting my fingertips down to the bone

Mr. Sparks isn't a very nice fella, but he isn't a horror of horrors either. In today's media-driven world, he made an awful sort of sense to me. I was able to set aside our differences and look for our commonalities. In other words, Jack is a nicely fleshed-out character. As the story moved on and the nasty, creepy bits started piling up like old bones, I found myself caught up with Jack and puzzling over what might happen to him.
