Resumen del Editor

The four dead guards didn’t concern Mitch Rapp as much as the absence of the man they’d been paid to protect. Joe Rickman wasn’t just another foot soldier. For the last eight years Rickman had ran the CIA’s clandestine operations in Afghanistan. It was a murky job that involved working with virtually every disreputable figure in the Islamic Republic. More than a quarter billion dollars in cash had passed through Rickman’s hands during his tenure as the master of black ops and no one with a shred of sense wanted to know the details of how that money had been spent.

At first glance it looks as if Rickman has been kidnapped, but Rapp knows certain things about his old friend that cause him to wonder if something more disturbing isn’t afoot. Irene Kennedy, the director of the CIA, has ordered Rapp to find Rickman at all costs. Rapp must navigate the ever-shifting landscape of Afghanistan as the Taliban, Iranians, Pakistanis and Russians all plot to claim their piece of the war torn state.

With Afghanistan crumbling around him, Rapp must be as ruthless as his enemies and as deceitful as people in his own government if he has any hopes of completing his mission.

Vince Flynn and George Guidall are great!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I'd recommend this audiobook to a friend. In fact, I already have. Vince Flynn and George Guidall give life to Mitch Rapp and Director Kennedy in a story that holds your attention until the end and leaves you satisfied with the outcome.

Vince Flynn + George Guidall = 5 Stars, Duh!

I purposefully waited months to listen to this because I knew it was going to be worth the wait. Vince Flynn does it again with his no-nonsense style of writing: nothing is fodder, everything, no matter how small or insignificant builds on the momentum of the story: which is pure bliss if you're into politics, espionage, clandestine operations, military logistics, not to mention the psyche's of high stress individuals!

Flynn takes you into the world behind the news headlines, behind all of the political posturing, behind all of the allegations and scrutiny around the CIA, and the work that they do at home and abroad.

I really don't even want to write anymore, no spoilers here though. This book is just too well written to really find anything wrong with it. Well, the ending felt a little rushed, but that's probably because I waited a couple of months to listen to the darn thing. When something is this good, you know it's impossible, but you want to savor the memory of the experience forever.

This one is a winner, and George Guidall gets as much credit as Vince Flynn! I know, it sounds absurd, but it's true. Guidall is majestic with his delivery of the narrations of every character, and when he really gets into it, the hairs on the back of your neck let you know that you're into it too.

Best Vince Flynn book yet!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I highly recommend this audiobook. Flynn makes the Rapp character and to a lesser degree the Nash character a little different making me look forward to future books.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

The plot is fast moving and has enough characters that keep your attention through the whole book. The facts feel real and it keeps my emotions enganged throughout the story.

What does George Guidall bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

George Guidall brings the character's alive, especially Rapp. He is amazing.

Flynn & Guidall, Great Team!

Thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of this book and program. Sometimes a little "over the top," but completely engaging and entertaining. Liked the twists and turns, even though some were rather predictable. All in all, a good audition.

Mitch Rapp Does it Again!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I would recommend. It is full of drama and thorough character study and keeps you engaged through out.

What did you like best about this story?

Mitch is constantly under seige - both domestically and by foreign countries. When things look darkest, he prevails. But this is not just a story about Mitch - it is also about Irene Kennedy - and their partnership is a study in contrasts. Mitch could not be Mitch without Irene.

What about George Guidall’s performance did you like?

I am a big admirer of George Guidall's reading. His characterizations are nuanced and distinct. He does not make the mistake of over modulating or using falsetto for his characters, nor does his accents over the top. He is one of my favorites.

Not My Favorite Rapp Story

This one really lacked the action of the other stories for me. I did enjoy bringing back a former important character, and that was probably the best part of the book.

The LAST man you want still investigating

Is My Hero, Mitch Rapp. Even injured, he is still head and shoulders above the next best. I'm sorry we lost Vince Flynn's voice. He leaves big, big shoes to fill. He knew what he knew and there is no one else who knows the same. I will read the next book, but . . .

I have listened to these books repeatedly. While I enjoy some of the other series, it's this series, and more often than not, this book, that I choose to revisit. And I am surprised each hearing brings something new that I have missed.

I must add that I really like George Guidel's performances. I have heard h perform other author's work and he always adds to my enjoyment. 5 Stars

GREAT story that sucks you in

A long and involved story that keeps you entertained. It brings in several characters that builds the excitment and desire for vengeance, and pays off.

Would you listen to The Last Man again? Why?

My husband has loved every one of the Vince Flynn's novels.
He is sad that he has no more to listen to.

The Last Man

Any additional comments?

Each Mitch Rapp book gets better and better. I like the way Vince Flynn has changed the story line up by switching between young and old Mitch Rapp. George Guidall brings the story to life. Between the author and the narrator, the time flies by listening to this book. Best one of the series!
