Publisher's summary

The four dead guards didn’t concern Mitch Rapp as much as the absence of the man they’d been paid to protect. Joe Rickman wasn’t just another foot soldier. For the last eight years Rickman had ran the CIA’s clandestine operations in Afghanistan. It was a murky job that involved working with virtually every disreputable figure in the Islamic Republic. More than a quarter billion dollars in cash had passed through Rickman’s hands during his tenure as the master of black ops and no one with a shred of sense wanted to know the details of how that money had been spent.

At first glance it looks as if Rickman has been kidnapped, but Rapp knows certain things about his old friend that cause him to wonder if something more disturbing isn’t afoot. Irene Kennedy, the director of the CIA, has ordered Rapp to find Rickman at all costs. Rapp must navigate the ever-shifting landscape of Afghanistan as the Taliban, Iranians, Pakistanis and Russians all plot to claim their piece of the war torn state.

With Afghanistan crumbling around him, Rapp must be as ruthless as his enemies and as deceitful as people in his own government if he has any hopes of completing his mission.

THE BEST YET

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I've either liked or loved every single 'Mitch Rapp' episode. This one is simply so tight,so gripping that i may listen to it again this month.Vince Flynn has outdone himself.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

The plot of the book involves so many elements so well woven together i was stunned.Every character feels as if he (or eileen) could have been ripped from headline news...but of course with their need for secrecy to operate they never would be.Pakistan and the US, such unlikely but mutually necessary allies have both been called to answer for some conducts truely unbecoming.

Which character – as performed by George Guidall – was your favorite?

Mitch Rapp,Irene Kennedy and Stan Hurley have clearly taken over the voice of George Guidall. They own him now and he simply does their bidding. Vince,PLEASE KEEP UM" COMING!!

Slow it down

George Guidall's narration is much easier to listen to at 0.90 speed in my opinion.

Back on track!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

It was great for Flynn to be back on track with Rapp & leave the prequels. Another classic that was exciting to listen to; did not disappoint!

Unusual Ending

Bit of an unusual ending. Definitely not what I expected from Mitch. Maybe I'm just mourning the end of a series. Oh wait, there's one more coming in October.

Excellent story did not care for the reader

Would you consider the audio edition of The Last Man to be better than the print version?

Have not read the printed version so I can not give a opinion.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

I have read enough of his books to not get on the edge but it diffently kept me interested.

What three words best describe George Guidall’s voice?

dull, gets better in the book

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

unknown

Any additional comments?

liked the book. will read it again.

Timely listening

I listen to books on my drive to and from work. I don’t have a lot of time for the news right now but my spouse does. I started this book just as we were pulling out of Afghanistan. Vince Flynn must either be very smart and astute or just really lucky seeing as he wrote this in 2012 and didn’t miss the mark by much. Perhaps more people in the current administration should read more books. To bad we don’t have a Mitch Rapp and Director Kennedy in real life. Perhaps things would have gone better
