Amazing sequel!

Amazing sequel! I loved (almost) every second of it. Even my small complaint from the first audiobook - the discrepancy in volume between soft-spoken and the characters that speak in normal tones got fixed in this one. Vargo is still soft-spoken but I can now properly hear him without having my eardrums being blasted once we switch to other characters.

My only real, albeit small, complaint in this one is that I feel that the authors dropped the ball when they wrote a particular romantic scene. They are so good at writing pining and romantic tension between characters that I was basically kicking my feet in anticipation of that particular scene. But then I was quite underwhelmed by it, sadly.

Also, actually I do have another complaint - I really dislike it in stories when everyone and their mother falls for the protagonist. And it miffed me that it happens here as well - every major non-villain male character falls for Ren. And it really wasn't necessary, imo. Also, it hit me out of nowhere and I really feel that it wasn't necessary. Lucky it didn't make me rage as I usually would because Ren is an awesome character, so I can see many people being drawn to her. But please let Ren have male friends other than her own brother. Not every man needs to fall head over heels for her.
