Resumen del Editor

Alexander McCall Smith’s No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency series has become a worldwide phenomenon thanks to the appeal of endearing protagonist Precious Ramotswe and the author’s charmingly quirky prose. In this 13th installment, Mma Ramotswe’s attention is focused on a pesky disciplinary problem at her adopted daughter’s school - while Grace Makutsi adjusts to wedded bliss and the famed Clovis Andersen arrives in Botswana looking for more than bush tea.

Just lovely

It's such a pleasure to be in the company of Alexander McCall Smith's characters, and indeed in his own company. This book allows the author of "The Principles of Private Detection" - Clovis Andersen, to visit Botswana, and Mma Ramotswe. I believe that the character of Clovis Andersen allows McCall Smith to send a proxy of himself into Botswana, to interact with his own characters, and to express a wish to stay there forever.

Clovis Andersen's wife has recently died, and I listened to this book during the time my own mother was in the process of dying. My mother had a wonderful life, and the words of Mma Ramotswe were extraordinarily comforting and provided me with great strength during this difficult time.

But the book is not a sad one. It is full of life, strength and compassion. Not to mention the gem of the "Minor Adjustment Beauty Salon", which I understand will be the topic of the next book in this wonderful series.

Our friends in Botswans

Would you listen to The Limpopo Academy of Private Detection again? Why?

Life continues for M. Ramotswe and M. Makutsi, with the small joys and sorrows that make up all our lives. These are peaceful, pleasant stories, written with humor and love, that have a good place in our lives. Someday I'll start the series over again, and enjoy the stories about our neighbors in Botswana.

Would you recommend The Limpopo Academy of Private Detection to your friends? Why or why not?

Yes, provided they understand that these are not thrillers, mysteries, or romances. They're comfortable rather than exciting, gentle rather than challenging, like a light, refreshing cup of tea on a normal afternoon while you're waiting for the kids to come home from school.

Never Dissapointed

Would you listen to The Limpopo Academy of Private Detection again? Why?

This is a great easy listen. I love the performance. I feel like I am in Botswana whenever I listen.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

I love these detective novels. They are simple lessons in life and the characters with their observations always keep you guessing. I love this author

Have you listened to any of Lisette Lecat’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes. Lisette really portrays each character very well.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Another fascinating trip back to Batswana

Any additional comments?

I turn to this series when I want to be entertained and feel like sipping bush tea and visiting a simpler time.

I think this is the best of the whole series

I really loved this book. It's hard to put my finger on why I enjoyed this even more than some of the others in the series, but I did. If you love this series, I think you will be really happy with this one. This one is much more memorable than some of the others which I can hardly remember. I won't forget this one!
I recommend whole heartedly!

Perfect in Audiobook!

I have yet to find an Alexander McCall Smith series that I haven’t dearly loved. I’ve purchased this series in audiobook form from Audible, and the narration is absolutely wonderful! I feel truly transported to lovely Botswana! The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency series is like the very best therapy available. If I listen to the audiobooks in the background while I do household chores or drive, I find myself happy and smiling and calm through them. Yes, there are troubles in the world, but most can be overcome or at least mitigated by a cup of tea and a thoughtful meditation while watching the sunset. I love the gentle humanity of these books. After listening to Mma Ramotswe, the balance of the world always seems tilted toward the good. My chores get completed, yet I feel relaxed and happy, as if I’ve just returned from vacation in Botswana!

The Best Yet!

Would you consider the audio edition of The Limpopo Academy of Private Detection to be better than the print version?

Yes, I love the audio version because of the reader. She is one of the best.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Limpopo Academy of Private Detection?

When Clovis Anderson appeared.

Have you listened to any of Lisette Lecat’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have listened to all the books in this series as an audiobook. She is right up there with Jim Dale of the Harry Potter series and David Colacci of the Donna Leon series about Guido Brunetti. She makes the characters come alive.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Ma Ramotswe treats Clovis with such kindness. Just loved learning more about him since he had such a profound impact on her.

Any additional comments?

I laughed out loud during parts of this book and was moved to tears in other parts. I think this at the tope of the list for this series.
