About this listen

He's doing what he can to save the Prince Regent's life...but can he save his new marriage as well?

Evan Eldridge never meant to be a war hero - he just wanted to fight Napoleon for the future of his country. And he certainly didn't think that saving the life of a peer would mean being made the Earl of Whitelock. But when the life you save is dear to the Prince Regent, things can change in a hurry.

Now Evan has a new title, a manor house in shambles, and a stranger for a bride, all thrust upon him by a grateful ruler. What he doesn't have are all his memories. Traumatized as a result of his wounds and bravery on the battlefield, Evan knows there's something he can't quite remember. It's important, dangerous - and if he doesn't recall it in time, will jeopardize not only his marriage but someone's very life.

A great listen

I loved this book. I thought the narrator was perfect of the gravity of the situations in the story line. The relationship was gradual. It was a perfect telling of making wrong choices out of fear and coming around to truth and love. A clean but exciting story development.

Good story.

this was a very good story however if you like historical romance novels keep in mind that this one has very little romance in it. just a couple of kissing scenes that's it. also the narrator is too soft and whispery for my taste. I had to really focus on the story more than her voice.

What is wrong with this narrator?

Add TH to every word and that’s how she ends all her sentences. Sometimes she breaks up a word in two syllables due to her constant need to add additional
melancholy to her voice. The reading speed should be another 0.5 faster than the rate she reads. Overall, I enjoyed the story, but I wanted to strangle myself 20 minutes into the book. I’m going to recommend everyone sampling the book and see if they can handle narration before purchasing the book.

Agonizing Narrator

Lovely story...BUT the narrator's attempts to speak in a silky, elegant tone made me want to scream. I almost stopped numberous times through the story although I loved the story very much.
The narrators pronunciation of "S" was also very grating on the nerves.

Great Story

I loved the main characters and the story.
Love, history, intrigue and mystery, what more can you ask for? So glad I did not pay attention to the poor reviews of the narrator as she was excellent. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

Gripping Story

I loved the authors insight into the struggles and fears that plague someone surviving PTSD.
The spy angle is gripping and the constant thwarting of the Prince Regent is humorous. Altogether this makes for a complex and emotional story. Very enjoyable!

Story Great but

The story is fabulous but the narrator is just not good-I do t understand the pauses and the chapters naming. Would love to listen to this series but not sure I can listen to this narrator.

Great book awful narration

Honestly I’m still within the first several chapters of the book. The story itself is very well written and I definitely want to continue READING IT. But I will need to get it on kindle or an actual book because the narratoring is so bad. Every time I start it up I cringe trying to get use to her voice again. It’s especially terrible when narrating herself as the main female character. A few times she lets her voice read normally for a few words and there is some relief from the annoying cadence but then she gets right back into the horrible way of speaking! I really suggest this book is redone with a new narrator.

No one says no to the Prince Regent

I've read this book which I loved so much I decided to revisit it through audiobook. The narrator made this a really struggle for me. I had to speed this book up just to get through her super whispery voice that you sometimes couldn't understand. I hated the way she said the chapters too. I love this book and series so it pained me to give this book low marks here.
