Publisher's summary

The Making of Meredith

On the surface, John Meredith appears to have it all. He’s blessed with good looks and a successful police career, and he’s never short of female attention.

But is everything as it seems? What lies beneath the smooth, confident exterior? Is he a man who has simply plastered over the cracks of a dysfunctional childhood, betrayals, and heartbreak? Can he allow anyone close or will they see the joins and the damaged person that he really is?

The Making of Meredith explores not only what made the man but also how his past could destroy his future.

Although not a detective novel, this is a prequel to the Meredith & Hodge series, and a must listen for all Meredith & Hodge fans.

It happened this way...

M.K. Turner has done an outstanding Book O with this one. It is interesting having listened to the entire series to have Lee Beddow narrate (so expertly once again) the earlier life experiences of John Meredith. The best part of this novel is that it can be read as the first book of the series or as the last book that you read about Meredith. My suggestion would be if you are new to the series to read a couple of the other books and then devour this one. It provides insight into some of his habits and motivations that were not so clear. It is a wonderful book and like all of the others I highly encourage anybody who likes a good crime series to dive in. M K Turner has a talent for writing in a style that makes every word alive. Lee Beddow gives it all the emotion and reality which is such a recipe for success. I as always eagerly await more of Meredith and his cohorts.

Best Meredith novel so far!

It was great to learn of the childhood of Meredith and his experiences growing up to see how he became the person he is today.

Lee Beddow did a great job narrating.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

a wonderful reading of a great book

I am so glad to see the next in series. this was a wonderful appetizer, so to speak, and I look forward to reading the entire series, or better hearing it on Audible. Lee Beddow did a beautiful job in the narration and the production of this book. Meredith is a complex and at times frustrating but totally lovable and sympathetic character, with a big heart that he is afraid to show. I loved his story.

I Love this series!

I really enjoyed finding out all about Meredith in his early days.
Even though I’ve listened to all the other books in the series this one filled in a lot of blanks.

Meredith

I didn't think I could like Meredith more than I already did from listening to several of the mysteries in this series, but this clinched the deal. I wanted to hug him and put him in bubble wrap to protect him from the users and evil women in his life. I was amazed he turned out as well as he did with all the evil in his life. By the end of the story Meredith's future love appears, but it's a long time coming. I liked his integrity and strength of character. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a great job bringing it to life.

Excellent

Always interested of going behind, and in this story it was the making of Meredith, to what he is today. Well written, and kept one interest to the end. The narration was subperb with Lee Beddow and added to this story. . Given audio for my voluntary review
