About this listen

After a long and brutal conflict, the war is over.

Otto controls all the portals on the continent, and Garenland has made vassals of the other kingdoms.

But some people can’t accept defeat.

While Otto hunts King Villares in Rolan, Axel chases Prince Uther across Straken. With Markane scheming to help their enemies, the future of the New Garen Empire is far from certain.

Even worse, the Wizards Guild is challenging Otto for leadership of the empire’s wizards, and they’ll use any means necessary to win.

The war may be over, but the battles are far from won.

a good addition to the series

lots of character development ....lots of minor and major characters some are reoccurring ....some hold some potential for the future... an interesting plot line... different viewpoints of characters represent the different viewpoints of the world... it's interesting to put all those perspectives in there.... it's a pretty ruthless unforgiving world.... the it's not your typical heroic Beowulf quest but it's definitely not really heavy reading... the audiobook performance was done well

Nice magical story

I like the story. There is plenty of adventure and the progression is believable. Immersion is solid and makes for a lot of fun for fans for magic. I didn't hear the stutters or gaps like some of the reviews claimed. It is a good story and I have heard every book in this series so enjoy. I await the next book to see what happens.

Great story but the Audiobooks are getting shorter

Great continuation of the the series. It has me listening every spare moment to find out what happens next. My only negative is that this book is the shortest so far and using a credit or buying the 6.5 hour audiobook is hard to swallow when I can get a 40 hour saga for the same value.

Short book, expensive.

These 7hr books are the biggest downside. Very small story setting, but a good one. Expensive to have 7 books in a series that could be done in one/two.

Not as good as last book

Overnight self published pop-up series with a suspicious number of early 5 star reviews. Plot quagmire.

Main Character is Evil

I have to stop listening after book 4. Otto turns out to be very, very evil. I thought he would be good guy who saves magic. The author should have just named him Adolf. 18 years old and he kills anyone who disagrees with him. He constantly thinks about how he will kill people when he is done with them. Everyone around him serves in fear. I just could not listen anymore when he finds out he killed 50,000 men, women, and children and felt nothing, and now he is seeking immortality. What a waste of money on these books.
