THIS GREAT STORY WILL STAY WITH ME!

When chapter 2 started with no apparent connection to the 1st, I thought I had mistakenly purchased an audiobook of short stories. However, the second chapter tied in by its end, and I was hooked. Some reviewers felt the book was slow. I expected this story to progress slower than an action story, so I had no problems with the pace of the book. Thought-provoking books DO have a slower pace! I found the story held my interest and kept a degree of suspense to see how it would end. I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook!

Wonderful!

A wonderful story with true Japanese spirit at that . Loved the neat ending too! Somewhat predictable towards the end, however this matter does not lessen the appeal and the magic of the book.

Entertaining

This book was engaging and exciting. The historical parts of the book kept me wanting to hear more.

Interesting but confusing at times

The first story/adventure in this book was very interesting....almost scifi in character but it really grabbed me ....but then the book lost momentum for me. By the last part, I was totally confused as to who was who among the women due to the use of the Japanese sound-alike names. It was extremely difficult for me to separate the female characters. By the culmination I was just anxious for the book to be over and hoped there would be a "kick" or "surprise".......sorry, for me it did not come. One suggestion would be to Americanize the names to make it easier to follow....but then, perhaps it was only my problem. I held on to the end but can't wait to start listening to my next novel.

This book is so precious and charming and well-written that I was in love by the end. The only thing that took me out of it a bit was the beginning seemed to take a while to get going and the chapters were 1-2 hours long which is so inconvenient. But, the narrators were incredible and the story itself is amazing!! LOVED IT!

So glad I listened. Nice change of pace and it made me smile, I’ll check out this author’s other books.

Magnificent and Spellbinding

Very rarely does a book come along that offers me the opportunity to look at how the fates of life play into the outcomes of lives well lived. It is truly a magical world and the author lets you share in it in a special way. Words on paper can be interpreted so many different ways, but how can a few simple words impact an entire life? Live along with the characters in these interwoven stories.

Breathtaking and thoughtful

This story was filled with the troubles of ordinary people’s lives, capturing the essence of being human in a lovely way. Putting a magical twist on it was just icing on the cake. The author was marvelous at pulling together threads that actually surprised you, creating a marvelous whole. I will definitely look for other books he has written!

Good story and excellent narration

This book had a thoughtful plot, good plot tie-ins, and had several voices that made for a great audible experience.
