Resumen del Editor

When the luxurious Blue Train arrives at Nice, a guard attempts to wake serene Ruth Kettering from her slumbers. But she will never wake again - for a heavy blow has killed her, disfiguring her features almost beyond recognition. What is more, her precious rubies are missing.

The prime suspect is Ruth's estranged husband, Derek. Yet Hercule Poirot is not convinced, so he stages an eerie reenactment of the journey, complete with the murderer on board.

But how to pick just 100 of these unique and immersive listening journeys? We defined a series as having a minimum of three books, and—after some debate—we decided the titles had to be anchored in fiction. From YA to horror to historical fiction, from fresh voices to seminal tales, hours of discovery await.

Hugh Fraser is perfect for this Poirot classic

At the outset let me say I am a huge Hercule Poirot fan. I dare say I have seen almost every show availble on TV at least once. Thanks to BritBox, I am completing the final seasons. I was not familiar with The Mystery of the Blue Train, so I was it was available and with the wonderful performance of Capt. Hastings - I mean Hugh Fraser. As with most Agatha Christie's mysteries, you never know where they will lead you. This is a classic Christie, a' la Poirot mystery. Enjoy this well-written 1928 classic.

Agatha Christie is my favorite author

As always, her mysteries are edge of your seat whodunnits. However, for the first time in one of her books, I struggled to remember which character was whom. But still an excellent story!

The Queen of Crime Strikes Again

A murder most foul on the blue train and both prime suspects have an airtight alibi. A father's grief and anger along with jewelry. A mystery for Poirot

solid, classic Christie

First performance. Hugh Fraser is my favorite Christie narrator. He's great in this, though the American accents are always a little forced and fake, but likely more because of Christie's writing.

The story is engaging with interesting characters. The main reason I gave it a rating of 4 and not a 3 is because of the character of Katherine Grey. She is now my favorite (non-detective) Christie character. As for the mystery and story: I never really guessed who it was, though I think I went through just about every character as a possibility at one time or another. But she really played this one close to the vest for me.

I usually categorize Christie's mysteries in three groups:
* Fabulous
* Classic/standard
* Below average

This one falls into the Classic/standard category wrt story. To give you an idea of my taste to compare with your own, here is a sampling of some of the best and worst, with most others falling into the Classic/standard category (2 to 4 stars). I haven't read every Christie, but I have read most of the highly suggested ones.

FABULOUS 5 STAR
The Murder of Roger Ackroyd
Curtain: Poirot's Last Case
Five Little Pigs
The Moving Finger
Crooked House
Endless Night
The Murder at the Vicarage
A Murder Is Announced
Death on the Nile

BELOW AVERAGE 1 STAR
Elephants Can Remember
Nemesis
Third Girl
The Seven Dials Mystery
The Big Four

Not Aggie’s best

As per usual Fraser is phenomenal but this is a bit of a muddled mystery. Too long, takes too long to introduce Poirot and a bit dare I say it, boring. Poirot needs a foil, like Hastings to serve as the audience. When he doesn’t have that it is a noticeable absence. Good story and maybe by anyone else it would be considered great, but Christie can and has done better.

An amazing work by Agatha Christie!

Agatha Christie spins another great tale of murder, cloak and dagger, romance and misdirection. A joy from start to finish.

Hugh Frazier is the best

Very enjoyable. Having Hugh Frazier narrate after seeing him the Poirot TV series makes it all come together. He is stellar.
