Publisher's summary

Nail-bitingly modern domestic noir.

A tense, Hitchcockian psychological thriller.

Louise Voss returns with her darkest, most chilling novel yet....

Lynn Naismith gave up the job she loved when she married Ed, the love of her life, but it was worth it for the happy years they enjoyed together. Now, 10 years on, Ed has been diagnosed with early onset dementia, and things start to happen - things more sinister than missing keys and lost words. As some memories are forgotten, others, long buried, begin to surface...and Lynn’s perfect world begins to crumble. But is it Ed’s mind playing tricks, or hers....?

Super Suspense

I love Louise Voss and was thrilled to devour her new psychological suspense thriller. It has been a while since I listened to a book that had me hooked from start to finish, and one that I won't soon forget. Original plot, not totally unbelievable; fascinating characters and a great deal of suspense throughout. This book keeps you guessing. I thought the narration was also excellent. Highly recommend for fans of this genre and fans of Louise Voss.

This was really well written story

I bought this because of Zara Ramm, but ended up loving the story as well as the narrator. The story has so many OMG moments. I could listen to Zara read a dictionary and love it.

Likeable!

I just finished listening to this for the second time. It'd been a while since I'd last listened, and I'd forgotten the storyline. I got hooked once again... even though it's my second passthrough, I found myself listening while I cooked and was getting ready for bed, etc, whereas normally I just listen at work.

Many of the reviews say "it's so farfetched" but let's face it, some of the best stories, even true ones, ARE. The one thing I found unable to believe about the story was *SPOILER AHEAD* that Ed kept up the facade of being in love with Lynne through all the years of their marriage. No matter how good of a psychopath you are, I find it hard to believe he wouldn't get lazy and slip at SOME point during the relationship. However, I took it with a grain of salt and didn't let it ruin the story for me.

Read it twice..

That’s how much I liked it . Ms. Voss did her research which made the book even better.
I’ve yet to read a bad book from her.
Highly recommended. A++

Bloody brilliant from all views

I have always preferred British books and “The Old You” proves why. What took me so long to eventually purchase this epic listen after months in my Audible wishlist? Louise Voss again (and again…) pens another intense psychological shocker with her talent that shines through. Zara Ramm is a new narrator to me and I will be searching for more by her with precise vocal tones as she brings all characters to real life. A mystery featuring Liz and Ed, a couple dealing with early oncoming Alzheimer’s disease {{{???}}}, gripped me and never let go. A surprising jaw-dropper with twisty-turns throughout. Well worth a cherished credit, though I did pay for it at Audible’s reasonable price. I highly recommend this noteworthy listen. I want to scream from my rooftop, “Epic, I say! Wait no longer. Get this book now!”

Great start...

Started off brilliant and I couldn't stop listening. The plot is fantastically intricate, but whereas the first 25% of the book is creepy and draws you in, the last 25% is far fetched and although I didn't completely lose interest, I wasn't gripped anymore. the narrator was very good, though.

Entertaining

Pretty standard entry in the popular Evil Husband thriller category. Well written and read enough to hold interest and entertain. I don’t expect to be haunted by the memory of this one, but it was fun while it lasted.
