Why change readers?

I love these books but switching the reader threw me off. I’m disappointed.
Couldn’t get through it. Went straight to next one.

Good book

The new narrator is annoying - to listen to several books with the same narrator only to listen to another with a new one isn't great. It changes the tone of the book. Most annoying is how this new narrator pronounces names so differently that you don't realize who she's talking about initially. It's not that this narrator isn't good but I don't like the narrators being changed. If you like the other books in the series - you will also like this one.

don't judge the series by this book

Though I LOVED the others in the series, I absolutely hated this one. The primary problem, as other reviewers noted, was the awful narration. It was bad enough that all the voices I'd gotten used to had changed (her Jinx voice is truly awful), but the least she could have done before picking up the series as a new narrator was listen to EVEN ONE of the other books in the series to make sure her pronunciation of the names and terminology remained consistent!!! This narrator change was so distracting that it ruined the book for me. If the author is smart, she'll insist they go back to the original narrator for the next book...I'm sure going to check before purchasing it!

they changed the narrator and the structure. the new narrator is fine but pronounces key words from the series differently which is a huge distraction. also the terrible badly timed unneeded music. bad editing

A Series to Die For

I LOVE this series! I'm sure the publisher had a good reason for making the mid-series narrator change; however, Gigi Bermingham was not the best choice. Her voices are okay, but her mispronounciations made it difficult to continue listening.

It's been EIGHT YEARS and I still can't get past the narration

As someone who re listens to audio books constantly it kills me EVERY TIME when I have to skip this book. Some of my favorite series plot points take place in this book so skipping is always upsetting but I just can't listen to it. Margaurite Gavin brings such life to the hollows series that Gigi Birmingham can't deliver. In fact her version of Janx makes my ears hurt. I'm still holding out hope that one day they will redo the recording with Magurite, as I've seen them do with other series. Lord knows I would buy it in a heartbeat. In the meantime you may be better off reading the book instead.

Narrator ruined this book!

What did you like best about The Outlaw Demon Wails? What did you like least?

Love these books story is great characters are awesome, Kim Harrison can keep my attention with the story line, But this book was narrated by someone else than all the previous books & she ruined it. she pronounced some of the names different so I was confused at first who she was talking about. really can't they listen to the previous narrator so they know how names were being pronounced? she has a whiny voice, and just doesn't pulled the characters off right. Then there are these breaks of music randomly placed in the story, not at chapter ends but just anywhere, very annoying and I get the feeling some words are cut off from them. I hope it's not in the next book, and at least they got wise and went back to the old narrator.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Gigi Bermingham?

They where doing just fine with Margarita Gavin, don't know why they changed but guess they realized their mistake because she is the narrator for the other books after this one.

Any additional comments?

The random break of music in the book is very annoying & I hope it is not in the next book. If that was the publishers decision then I hope they learned that it was a bad one.

narrator sucks

The original narrator was way better. Gigi did not do this book justice her voice, pitches, and over all performance was garbage! her Mispronouncing of so many names and words where so irritating.
