Publisher's summary

In the war on terror...sometimes the best weapon is a woman....

Sarah Stevens is a washed-up military cop whose life is a shambles until she is offered a position as an agent with the CIA.

The 30-year-old, overweight, down-on-her-luck Stevens goes to a secret training camp where she is transformed into a sexy and deadly agent whose mission is to stop, by any means possible, the financiers of terrorism against the United States and its allies.

Sarah soon discovers that this is an exciting new life loaded with adventure, danger, and temptations.

The Ugly Duckling Spy

If you could sum up The Path to Freedom in three words, what would they be?

Great Action Story

Who was your favorite character and why?

Definitely Sara. She's takes herself from a dumpy, dumped, out of work ex-military police officer to the honey pot in a CIA special projects team through hard work, determination and a kick-but attitude. A strong, cocky kicking but and taking names heroine that's hard not to love.

Which character – as performed by Hollie Jackson – was your favorite?

Still Sara although she's the narrator of the story so she gets a lot of exposure. Vince probably places a close second. An ex-marine, he's the perfect commanding office and potential love interest for our newly liberated heroine.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

It runs nearly 8 hours, so no, unless you've got a major road trip ahead of you, it's not a one sitting read, but you won't want to hit the stop button one you've started reading.

Any additional comments?

Lisa Pietsch writes great action suspense stories and she's military trained so you an depend on the action, the tech and the toys to be believable. I loved the story, and if you're a fan of military action and techno-thriller literature I think you'll enjoy this "girl power" offering too.

A Wonderful Start To a New Series

I found this book more and more interesting as the minutes ticked by.
Discharged from a job and life she loves due to being well overweight, Sarah comes home early to be comforted by her boyfriend only to find his lover running into the bathroom. Feeling like a failure and heartbroken she places all of her worldly possessions in storage and calls the number her former Commander gives her to help get her life and weight back under control. The fun and adventure takes off from there.
Sarah is determined to do whatever it takes to stay in "Boot Camp" a sort of fat farm for ex-military, but she isn't too sure what will come after that. Almost two months later she meets Vincent in a bar and finds herself inexplicably attracted to him. She decides to leave him there, not needing the emotional complications and plays right into the hands of Task Force 125.
I loved Sarah's wit and determination to get her life back on track. I appreciated the inner struggle she went through with her self-esteem even as her body, in it's new shape, gained the wanted and unwanted attention of the men around her.
The electric dance of attraction that she and Vincent played was very nice and realistically handled.
On a whole I really enjoyed this book. Lisa Pietsch's attention to detail made this book for me and reading from a woman operative's point of few was wonderfully different.
Hollie Jackson's narration was great and the voices she lent to Sarah's attitude as well a the other characters was spot on.
