Next to The Bible, The Pilgrim's Progress has probably been more widely read than any other book in the English language, and rightfully so. It is considered by most critics as the greatest allegory in any language. And to think that it was written by a jailed tinker who received very little formal education.

This is the enthralling account of a Christian's epic journey. With a burden on his back, Christian reads a book that tells him that the city in which he and his family dwell will be set ablaze. Christian flees from the City of Destruction and journeys through the Slough of Despond, the Interpreter's House, the House Beautiful, the Valley of Humiliation, the Valley of the Shadow of Death, Vanity Fair, Doubting Castle, and the Delectable Mountains, and finally reaches the Celestial City.

Must Read (listen)

This is one of the best books I have ever experienced. I think listening to it even added to the experience for me. The only thing I regret is that I couldn't highlight the many sections that profoundly impacted me.

Wonderful book

Lifted my heart up to hear God's will for me. Gave me a strengthening hand through hard times. Recommend to all followers of Jesus Christ.

Classic Christian Allegory for a Reason

The language and manners are strange, but after listening a while become familiar and don't hinder the tale at all. Not for those who are antagonistic to Christianity and unwilling to suspend their viewpoint or cynicism enough to enjoy the sweetness, innocence and purity of another time.

All time fave!

Pilgrims Progress is my all time favorite book, after the Bible. (There's a reason it's the 2nd best all time selling book, after the Bible.) It is an awesome book! And Blackstone's audiobook of it is my all-time favorite reading of Pilgrims Progress.

Pilgrim Progress

This is the most inspiring book ever read. It will teach you how the Devil tries to discourage you in every way posible but Christ invites you to keep walking the read of faith. Highly recomemded for your spiritual life.

Fantastic Delivery!

I was amazed by the narrator. wow. He did such a great job with the Old English and made it sound normal. And he is a master at character voicings. Every character has a unique voice and personality. So easy to follow with so many characters.

In terms of the story, Part I was fantastic. I really loved the depictions and characterization of the Christian's journey. A lot of theology told in a story and in imaging that was wonderfully approachable. Part II was alright. Not as hard-hitting and convicting as Part I.

I would 100% recommend listening to this performance of John Bunyan's Classic.

Best of the best

Oh how I would that all men would take to heart what the preacher had to say in his dream! I have tried other John Bunyan audio books with little success due to the narrator, but this narrator did a great job catching the spirit and tones intended. I will be listening again and with my family, and we will take time to discuss and digest the various characters and situations, I believe all Christians need to read their Bible and then Pilgrims progress if they want to live a real Christian life!

It is a long story. But worth the journey. highly recommended. Took a bit to get use to the old style language but enjoyed it
