Publisher's summary

Tormented her entire life by inhuman voices, Jennsen seeks to end her intolerable agony. She at last discovers a way to silence the voices. For everyone else, the torment is about to begin.

Richard Rahl and his wife, Kahlan, have been reunited after their long separation, but with winter descending and the paralyzing dread of an army of annihilation occupying their homeland, they must venture deep into a strange and desolate land. Their quest turns to terror when they find themselves the helpless prey of a tireless hunter.

Exploited by those intent on domination, Jennsen finds herself drawn into the center of a violent struggle for conquest and revenge. Worse yet, she finds her will seized by dark forces more abhorrent than anything she ever envisioned. Only then does she come to realize that the voices were real.

Staggered by loss and increasingly isolated, Richard and Kahlan desperately struggle to survive. But if they are to live, they must stop the relentless, unearthly threat that comes out of the darkest night of the human soul. To do so, Richard will be called upon to face the demons stalking among the Pillars of Creation.

Engrossing

While 99% of this book is told from a different perspective, it is intriguing and well thought out.

Good Story, Horrible Narration

Would you be willing to try another one of Jim Bond’s performances?

I would not be willing to listen to Jim Bond on anything other than this series. I love the series enough to endure the particular books he reads. I hate to be so critical of a person's work.... I'm sure he works very hard and is proud of his performance. But he simply does not know how to "act" out any of the dialogue at all.

Listening to him as Oba seriously made me want to throw my iPhone out of the car window. It was like going to a really bad high school play where people talk louder than natural and end their statements sounding like questions. You almost have to try to sound that bad.

Any additional comments?

Goodkind has done an incredible job of creating a fun universe to get lost in. All of the books up to this point have been incredibly enjoyable, even with the frustrations. Sometimes the characters are unbelievably stupid. You do have to endure their inner thoughts as they rationalize making some of the dumbest decisions you can imagine.

But if you can get through those scenes, or just accept that sometimes the characters are just dumb, you can still get caught up in the overall story of the Seeker. I love the story enough to deal with some of the annoying details.

Painful

I can't stand dialogue in this book because of the narrator. So computer generated, and a huge headache to get through. Jensen is annoying. Least favorite of all the books. But, having read all the books before, I know this book is fairly enriching to the overall story. If only it was made less painful by a different narrator.

Love the series, least favorite volume

One of my favorite series, but man was Terry really grasping for straws on this one. Still near and dear to my heart but my least favorite book of the bunch by far.

Also warning: the narrator is a bit boring (the same guy in Stone of Tears) which makes it hard to get into at times

Disappointed

This is Random story about 2 different characters that barely ties it in at the end.

No more Jim ever!!!

Jim has to be one of the dullest narrators of all time it’s like I’m listening to a robot the best one y’all ever had with Sam in the first book and then it all went downhill from there there’s been a few good ones

Interesting detour.

This book barely progresses the main story and the vast majority of it you don't even hear about Richard and Kahlan, but it is still a good read
