FROM THE #1 BESTSELLING AUTHOR OF THE HARRY BOSCH AND LINCOLN LAWYER SERIES

An electrifying standalone thriller that breaks all the rules!

Death is reporter Jack McEvoy's beat: his calling, his obsession. But this time, death brings McEvoy the story he never wanted to write - and the mystery he desperately needs to solve. A serial killer of unprecedented savagery and cunning is at large. His targets: homicide cops, each haunted by a murder case he couldn't crack. The killer's calling card: a quotation from the works of Edgar Allan Poe. His latest victim is McEvoy's own brother. And his last...may be McEvoy himself.

Great Story

I really enjoyed the story. The narrator did a fine job and of course Michael spins a good tale.

Raw but good

Despite the sometimes x rated horrors in this mystery, it was intriguing the way it was solved and I didn't want to stop listening. Later, there were some twists I wasn't entirely expecting and didn't like, Despite that, it was one of the better ones I have listened to.

Great story

This was a great story but so slow in the beginning. I had a hard time staying with it in the beginning but in the end I couldn’t put it down.

One of Connelly's Best

I have read every Harry Bosch novel and this is a good as any of those. The plot has lots of turns and twists and the main character is as well developed as Harry.

Captivating read!

I got into this book book the better it got. The story turned into a spellbinding, twisty puzzle filled with many unexpected turns. Every time I thought I had it figured out a new suspect would emerge. The Definitely a good story with a good Reader.

Collins is a genre unto himself

I haven't read a Michael Collins book that didn't surprise me at the end. His writing is crisp and compelling. This book - one of his first - grabbed on and held on. We were surprised when we got to the apparent end and saw that two hours remained! Very satisfying!!!
