Best book this year!

It’s so rare to find an author who has a grasp of the language, a theme to convey, and the eloquence to convey it in a powerful story. This is my first Conroy novel, but it won’t be my last. I hope I just found my favorite contemporary novelist!

Reread and it’s still wonderful

I read this book many many years ago, and listening to it on audible just makes it come a lot again.

The descriptions and writing

It was a great listen. I recommend it. I like purchasing long audiobooks. I bought this credit because i had just listened to Barbara Streisand s memoir and this was a book she read and then produced a movie.

A grab you read!

I haven't been so invested in a story for some time. The slow layout of the family history keeps you coming back for another page. The only grievance I have with the story at all is the revelations of Luke's life. I found the end of Luke's life too odd and out of touch with this story. I followed this book with the movie and found Nick Nolte a perfect fit. Such a moving book for sure!

Never fails

Pat Conroy is a master of writing and pulling you into a world of the south. I've read several of his books but had only seen the movie of Prince of Tides years ago. The story exceeded my expectations and is now one of my top favorites of Conroy's writing, next to Beach Music.

A new favorite. Beautifully written, hilarious, heartbreaking, hopeful. Moved time and time again, by impactful messages to the reader. Highly recommend.

Best listen I’ve ever had

I recently moved to Fripp Island in the Low Country. I heard so much about this book and Pat Conroy, but only had seen the movie. Now that I’ve listened to the book, I’m in awe of everything about this incredible story. The movie was ok, but didn’t even come close to bringing these characters to life in the vivid language that Conroy used to bring the reader into the story. Best book I’ve read (listened to) in years.

My adoration for Pat Conroy

I can’t begin to describe the love I have for this book and the movie…This audible version is excellent…A master of the English language Mr.Pat Conroy is sorely missed…The only one close is James Lee Burke….Rest in Peace Mr. Conroy…you definitely left a mark!!
