Publisher's summary

A number one New York Times best seller!

“A rip-roaring adventure merged with satisfying romance.” (Entertainment Weekly)

“[A] swashbuckling launch to the Eldest Curses series.” (Publishers Weekly)

From number one New York Times and USA Today best seller Cassandra Clare and award-winner Wesley Chu comes the first audiobook in a new series full of “swoon-worthy romance [and] abundant action” (Publishers Weekly). The Red Scrolls of Magic is a Shadowhunters novel.

All Magnus Bane wanted was a vacation - a lavish trip across Europe with Alec Lightwood, the Shadowhunter who against all odds is finally his boyfriend. But as soon as the pair settles in Paris, an old friend arrives with news about a demon-worshipping cult called the Crimson Hand that is bent on causing chaos around the world. A cult that was apparently founded by Magnus himself. Years ago. As a joke. Now Magnus and Alec must race across Europe to track down the Crimson Hand before the cult can cause any more damage. Demons are now dogging their every step, and it is becoming harder to tell friend from foe. As their quest for answers becomes increasingly dire, Magnus and Alec will have to trust each other more than ever - even if it means revealing the secrets they’ve both been keeping.

I enjoyed the book, but was confused...

I enjoyed this book very much, but the timeline confused me. I thought Simon was no longer a vampire after the war and that Helen had already been exiled. Even with my confusion, it was still a very sweet story peppered with suspense and action.

My heart!!!

I loved listening to this! Getting to hear about how their story began and i throughly enjoyed the plot. I felt as if I was seeing Alec’s character developing right in front of my eyes (or ears..?). The narration was very well done, the only thing was when he was doing the accent I had a bit of a hard time understanding him but other than that, the emotion was there. Now I am sad that it’s over and I have to go back to reality. Definitely recommend, specially if you love Malec!

Another great book by Cassandra Clare!!

Cassandra Clare being my favorite author, this was another great book in her series, loved this story. Magnus is one of my favorite characters and this story about the beginning of his relationship with Alec was one I really enjoyed.

Having listened to over 200 audiobooks over the years, narration can make or break a story. BD Wong does a pretty good job with all the different voices needed, however I did find at times the accents were a bit weird.

I very much look forward to listening to the next book in the series and will truly be sad when Cassandra Clare concludes this franchise.

This book desperately needs a new narrator.

It's a great story. However it desperately needs a new narrator. You can never be sure if it Alex or Magus speaking they sound the same. they both sou d very bland. Some of the other characters are sound nonsense. I had to stop and backtrack several times to try and understand what he was saying.

story fun, and performance mostly good, but...

the narrator does good voices for the male characters. however, most of the female characters, he sounds like he's doing the voice of a flamboyant male rather than a female. and when he voices East Asian characters, he tends to overdo it. It sounds a little bit racist, though not intentionally I am sure.

Great story, really bad narration

As expected of Cassandra Clare, the story was well written and in-depth. The narration however, made me feel like the characters were out of character.
