Publisher's summary
Longtime defense attorney Mickey Haller is recruited to change stripes and prosecute the high-profile retrial of a brutal child murder. After 24 years in prison, convicted killer Jason Jessup has been exonerated by new DNA evidence. Haller is convinced Jessup is guilty, and he takes the case on the condition that he gets to choose his investigator, LAPD Detective Harry Bosch.
Together, Bosch and Haller set off on a case fraught with political and personal danger. Opposing them is Jessup, now out on bail, a defense attorney who excels at manipulating the media, and a runaway eyewitness reluctant to testify after so many years.
With the odds and the evidence against them, Bosch and Haller must nail a sadistic killer once and for all. If Bosch is sure of anything, it is that Jason Jessup plans to kill again.

Two women have gone missing, and LAPD detective Harry Bosch has a strong suspicion that an avid fisherman named Denninger is the culprit. Bosch needs something stronger than a suspicion to bring Denninger in, but all he has are a handful of photos - prior mug shots and pictures of Denninger posing with his prize fish. It's not much to go on, and Bosch is running out of time, which is why he calls in FBI agent Rachel Walling. What she sees in these photos could blow his case wide open.

Loved it
I made excuses to listen to this - my wife loved it because my "honey-do" list was more than completed - I found other stuff to do while listening. I have read or listened to every Michael Connelly book - and I just love his style and keeping his old characters fresh.

Fun but flawed
I enjoy this series, and will continue to consume it. On the other hand, this book suffered from a bit of stupidity:
[mild spoilers:]
So our lawyer asks for no bail... for a murderer? Who cares if the murder will stick around for his pay day... he's a danger to the public.
Even if Haller hadn't asked for bail, I can't imagine a judge not requiring it.
This was an unbelievable choice, and it made much of the story completely implausible and predictable.
Also, the narrator's gravelly voice for "Bosch" was just too over-the-top.

Excellent Book
If you are a fan of the Harry Bosch series you will love this book. If you are new to the series you probably would not rate this book as highly as one who is because the development of the characters is a bit weak. But for those readers familiar with these very rich characters, you will be thrilled.

Truly enjoyed listening
What made the experience of listening to The Reversal the most enjoyable?
My husband and I said it was like the days before television, when people sat around the radio, listening to programs together.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Michael Connely always has twists and turns in his plots. Just as you think you know what is going to happen, Connely throws a curve ball.
Which scene was your favorite?
Harry finding the hiding place under the Santa Monica pier.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The testimony of Sara Gleason was moving. I sympathisized with her.

Again with the dramatic music
Besides the music between chapters, this is a great Mickey Haller story. As indicated by the title, he swaps to the prosecuter's table, and does as well as when he's a defense attorney. With DNA evidence against him, Mickey still knows the right man was convicted, but has to rely on old eye witness testimonies.
With his ex-wife's and brother's help, he shines again.
