Publisher's summary
An international sensation, this hilarious, feel-good novel is narrated by an oddly charming and socially challenged genetics professor on an unusual quest: to find out if he is capable of true love.
Don Tillman, professor of genetics, has never been on a second date. He is a man who can count all his friends on the fingers of one hand, whose lifelong difficulty with social rituals has convinced him that he is simply not wired for romance. So when an acquaintance informs him that he would make a "wonderful" husband, his first reaction is shock. Yet he must concede to the statistical probability that there is someone for everyone, and he embarks upon The Wife Project. In the orderly, evidence-based manner with which he approaches all things, Don sets out to find the perfect partner. She will be punctual and logical - most definitely not a barmaid, a smoker, a drinker, or a late-arriver.
Yet Rosie Jarman is all these things. She is also beguiling, fiery, intelligent - and on a quest of her own. She is looking for her biological father, a search that a certain DNA expert might be able to help her with. Don's Wife Project takes a back burner to the Father Project and an unlikely relationship blooms, forcing the scientifically minded geneticist to confront the spontaneous whirlwind that is Rosie - and the realization that love is not always what looks good on paper.
The Rosie Project is a moving and hilarious novel for anyone who has ever tenaciously gone after life or love in the face of overwhelming challenges.

Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing as an average woman. But it’s the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute takes a very unscientific view of equality. Except for one: Calvin Evans; the lonely, brilliant, Nobel–prize nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with—of all things—her mind. True chemistry results.

After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

But behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness. So when one November morning a chatty young couple with two chatty young daughters move in next door and accidentally flatten Ove’s mailbox, it is the lead-in to a comical and heartwarming tale of unkempt cats, unexpected friendship, and the ancient art of backing up a U-Haul.

Bernadette Fox is notorious. To her Microsoft-guru husband, she's a fearlessly opinionated partner; to fellow private-school mothers in Seattle, she's a disgrace; to design mavens, she's a revolutionary architect, and to 15-year-old Bee, she is a best friend and, simply, Mom.
Then Bernadette disappears. It began when Bee aced her report card and claimed her promised reward: a family trip to Antarctica. But Bernadette's intensifying allergy to Seattle - and people in general - has made her so agoraphobic that a virtual assistant in India now runs her most basic errands.

In "Matricide", Daum unflinchingly describes a parent's death and the uncomfortable emotions it provokes; and in "Diary of a Coma" she relates her own journey to the twilight of the mind. But Daum also operates in a comic register. With perfect precision, she reveals the absurdities of the marriage-industrial complex, of the New Age dating market, and of the peculiar habits of the young and digital.

In "elegant, finely honed prose" (The Washington Post Book World), Lebowitz limns the vicissitudes of contemporary urban life—its fads, trends, crazes, morals, and fashions. By turns ironic, facetious, deadpan, sarcastic, wry, wisecracking, and waggish, Fran Lebowitz is always wickedly entertaining.

The complex, deeply binding relationship between mothers and daughters is brought vividly to life in Katie Hafner's remarkable memoir, an exploration of the year she and her mother, Helen, spent working through, and triumphing over, a lifetime of unresolved emotions. Dreaming of a "year in Provence" with her mother, Katie urges Helen to move to San Francisco to live with her and Zoe, Katie's teenage daughter. Daphne Maritch doesn't quite know what to make of the heavily annotated high school yearbook she inherits from her mother, who held this relic dear. Too dear. The late June Winter Maritch was the teacher to whom the class of '68 had dedicated its yearbook, and in turn she went on to attend every reunion, scribbling notes and observations after each one - not always charitably - and noting who overstepped boundaries of many kinds. In a fit of decluttering (the yearbook did not, Daphne concluded, "spark joy"), she discards it when she moves to a small New York City apartment.

Meet Ove. He’s a curmudgeon—the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse.

A Very Light and Enjoyable Read
What did you love best about The Rosie Project?
If you like Sheldon Cooper of "The Big Bang Theory" sitcom, you will love this book. I enjoyed it. Funny and engaging, with likeable characters. Narration was good too.

so much fun!
this book had me giggling in so many places! it was fantastic. gives you a great look inside what it would be like to have a social deficiency.
i haven't listened to the second book because the reviews aren't fantastic and quite honestly, the first book was such a great hit, that i don't want to ruin it by muddling it up with a second book that will undoubtedly not be as good. so i won't. lol
excellent book! two thumbs up! -laurie eller, the kentucky bluegrass

I LOVED this book!
I have really been having bad luck lately finding a book that keeps my interest and that I find myself not being able to tear myself away from. FINALLY I've found one! I absolutely LOVED this book! So much that I'm rushing back to Audible to see if this author has any more like it. The story was really great, funny beyond what I could have imagined and a sweet love story to boot! I don't usually enjoy love stories, so I was happy to like this one. I could recommend this to ANYone. The only downside for me was the references to sex, as I would have loved my daughters to listen to it, too. It gives great insight to the highly functioning autistic mind.
My review would not be fair without giving amazing credit to the reader. He was incredible! I loved his voice and inflections and mannerisms. He is hilarious and I'd love to listed to another book read by him!
Do yourself a favor and get this book. Prepare to be entertained!

A royal hoot
What a delightful way to experience a unique love story from the viewpoint of a beautiful mind like Don Tillman's! Entertaining and thought provoking on how we all relate to being a cut of a different cloth each in our own way, The Rosie Project was a very good read/listen, an authentic Australian narration on Audible. Thanks for the laughs and insights and growth opportunities!

This was a very entertaining story. I live with and work with many people on the Autism spectrum. The idea was very cute and pretty realistic.

Delightful
As both a Therapist and as the mother of a son with aspergers I found this book so enjoyable
I fell in love with Don- the author described the characters so vividly and beautifully captured the way those who are wired differently think and see the world.
