Really good!
I watched the movie when I was young (by myself in the middle of the night, unwisely) and have always been a bit too scared to read the book even though I consistently enjoy Stephen King’s other books, including horror. I finally decided to give it a try before reading the related books and am so glad I did. The story pulled me in and the narrator did a great job with very different voices/personalities. I avoided listening late at night but it was still effectively creepy, especially as the story moved along. I loved the ending and I thought the book was a good length. Definitely recommend!

So much better than the movie!
Great book. I just wish I had not waited so long to hear/read it. Great performance by the reader. Campbell Scott did a great job!

Fantastic, gripping story
I've enjoyed several Stephen King [audio] books like The Stand and Under the Dome after reading the original print version. This was the first foray straight into the audio version. It was excellent. Beyond being a great story with colorful imagery and deep character development, the audio was well performed and made me feel as if I were in the thick of the story several times. Looking forward to listening to Doctor Sleep next.

You shouldn’t be reading this review, read the story!!!
This story will captivate you immediately. I have read many King books but never got around to this story...mainly because I have a nostalgic love of Kubrick’s movie adaption and I did not want to scathe it. However, when I learned that King did not see eye to eye on the film it peaked my interests to explore the book. Thanks to Audible I was able to fit this book into my crazy schedule and I could not stop listening. This book is up there along side The Dark Tower series and The Stand if you are an avid King reader. Use that free credit and listen to this masterpiece which was narrated superbly!

THIS WAS AMAZING
This book was more that amazing. I felt like I could close my eyes and be there. And the narrator was amazing too. I’m recommending this book to everyone that will listen. Great job Audible

Amazing, Ispiring!
This book is so different than what Kubrick imagined and I now understand why King never cared for the film. Jack and Danny are amazingly deep characters and none of that depth is even touched in the film. I recommend this for anyone who has ever done something they regretted, anyone who likes a scary story or anyone who may have been addicted to something. It will be resoundingly poignant. Otherwise, just a masterful tale.

Finally got around to this one!
