Publisher's summary

In the summer of ’75, listening to the Commodores, Barry Manilow, and Linda Ronstadt on her transistor radio is the highlight of Eden Randall’s day. Unfortunately, there is no groovy stereo in her room, no television set in the house, or anything else deemed “worldly” on the quaint, little farm Eden calls home. Her father is a preacher for their church, “The Assembly,” and the members don’t believe in those kinds of things. No, they certainly do not.

Eden and her cousin Paul have spent sixteen years riding bikes in the country, playing games of croquet in the front yard, and fishing for bluegill in the family pond. It’s a simple, happy life, but they both long for something more. However, convincing their strict, loving parents to ease up on the rules is nearly impossible.

But…one fine day, life takes a different turn for the two cousins. Miss Marianna Cooper, a dear lady from The Assembly, asks Paul and Eden to befriend her grandson who is coming for the summer. Unbeknownst to them, Remy Cooper is fixing to turn their quiet, sheltered world upside down. Sneaking off in Remy’s sharp black Camaro and spending evenings at Paul’s taboo girlfriend’s home become the new normal. The white lies soon begin to roll right off Eden Randall’s tongue.

Between all the fun and games, Eden never plans on losing her heart to the mesmerizing, unpredictable boy from Biloxi. However, life never goes according to plan. As the love between them grows, the magical time with Remy is unlike anything Eden has ever experienced. She can’t bear the thought of it ending, but has no idea tragedy, loss, and heartbreak are all lurking in the shadows. Eden has to learn the hard way…life isn’t always beautiful.
