I must admit that I was not sold audio books. I loved opening books and actually reading words. However, this audiobook kept my attention and every chapter was moving. I found myself listening to this book while working, in the shower, and just relaxing around the house. Not only is it relatable, it’s well written and leaves you in a space thinking of how I can be more compassionate with myself and give myself grace. This is a perfect gift for a loved one. Looking forward to the next book by the author.

With grace, wisdom, and authenticity, Kweli Keene Carson guides readers through a transformational journey of self-care, self-love and compassion. By redefining a mis-conceptualised narrative, black women are empowered to embrace their identify, color, and self worth; and also encouraged to live unapologetically in today's world! Being a proponent of self-care and self-love, I particularly appreciate the detailed thought on 'mirror works' and 'body gratitude'. This book is highly recommended, not only for black women, but also for any woman struggling with low self-esteem. This is a must read!
