Acceptance and Inclusion in Paranormal Romance

I'm a fan of Sharon Buchbinder's wonderfully surprising paranormal romance stories. The author's imagination always entertains me, but importantly, she is an expert at wrapping a meaningful message inside. It centers on love. In this Cat's Paw Cove tale, you'll meet all kinds of special individuals and learn about acceptance and inclusion along the way. The narration is vibrant and carries you into the other world of the supernatural and magical creatures. Highly recommend!

Quick and fun paranormal romance

The Vampire Billionaire's Secret Baby is a super cute paranormal romance about a Vampire single father who moves to Cat's Paw Cove with his half vampire son. They quickly meet Meddy a gorgon and home organizer, who helps them when trouble comes their way. I have never read a paranormal romance with a gorgon character before so I thought that was a creative touch! I also really liked hearing about the children of supernatural parents parenting problems. Don't you hate when your child teleports away or can't stop turning into a bat? I did wish the romance had gotten a little more focus. I liked Meddy and Quinn but didn't feel like they got a ton of time to connect as a couple. This was partly because this was a quick read only 136 pages so almost novella length. However, this book is perfect for a reader who wants a quick and fun paranormal story. It is also great for anyone who is a fan of the Nocturne Falls series by Kristen Painter as it has similar vibes.

I listened to the audiobook version of this book and liked it a lot! I wasn't crazy about the kids voices at first but I got used to it.

The right balance of humor, romance, and intrigue

Story Impressions –

How have I never heard of this series? Talking cats? Oooh, fun! A safe haven for all races of supernaturals? I’m there. In this book, we have a hot billionaire, his dhampir little boy, a gorgon hired to organize their lives, and a wicked vamp queen trying to track them down. I couldn’t get enough of this book and want more!

This story is obviously paranormal rom com with cool twists. The descriptive narration is vivid and makes your feel like you’re right in on the action. The dialogue is funny. The action is real, even though it’s paranormal. The romance is classic rom com set in paranormal-land.

The characters reel you in, especially little Danny. He’s so young and doesn’t know what’s going on. He shifts from boy to bat then back to boy, like all the time. He needs stability and a little magic, which this town provides. The main characters have chemistry galore. They sizzle and it was such a blast watching them fall in love. Even the evil vamp skank grows on you.


Narrator’s overall voice –

Rebecca Winder has a vibrant voice with great personality to it. She takes each character and brings them to light using inflection.


Does the narrator fit the characters?

Yes, she does. Rebecca uses her voice as an instrument, so each character has their own voice. From Meddy to Quinn to Danny to all the minor characters, it’s a full cast of characters Rebecca recreates with ease.


Narrator’s reading style –

Rebecca’s reading style is effortless, and I found it easy to get caught up in the story. The pronunciation is clear, no matter which character is speaking.


Narrator’s impact on reading experience –

Rebecca adds a new level of enjoyment for me. Her characterizations of Sharon Buchbinder’s writing is brilliant, and I would love to listen to it again and again.


Narrator’s pacing –

The pacing is well done with plenty of dramatic pauses so the reader can follow along without getting lost.


Audiobook flow –

The audiobook flowed from start to finish with the right balance of humor, romance, and intrigue. I didn’t want to stop reading.


What makes this audiobook unique –

What makes this unique is the storyline and the way Rebecca brough it to life. I just finished reading it and I want to read it again.


Would I recommend this audiobook –

YES! I would recommend this to any reader looking for a cozy paranormal romance where cats rule the town. There are a full cast of characters and Rebecca brings each one to life. Highly recommend!

Cozy Paranormal Mystery w Bit of Vampire Steam

Parents: PG-PG13 this is acceptable for middle school and up
Language: PG very little used
Violence: PG13 nothing too graphic
Sexual content: PG - kissing, attraction and steamy lead ups, but overall it stays free of bedroom scenes.

This was another fun and quick read. This one centers around a dad (and new vampire) trying to protect his son from a scary vampire sect that wants to take him and experiment on him. He's a single dad struggling with his young son's uncontrolled abilities. This one has the light thriller side and a mystery around a ghost who was murder and trying to help her find peace. Overall, a fun book with a bit more steam due to the vampire thread but still clean.

The narrator did a good job with the character differentiations and acting. I did prefer listening at 1.35x speed.

This has a great variety of different paranormal characters that enhance the story and make it very entertaining

It was a cute story that brought the main characters together with hea. Loved it! Story and narration combined made it easy and excellent to enjoy. I can honestly recommend this short and romantic story.
