About this listen

The Vanderbeekers have always lived in the brownstone on 141st Street. It's practically a member of the family. So when their reclusive, curmudgeonly landlord decides not to renew their lease, the five siblings have 11 days to do whatever it takes to stay in their beloved home and convince the dreaded landlord just how wonderful they are...and all is fair in love and war when it comes to keeping their home.

Featured Article: The Best Women Narrators to Listen to Right Now

One of the biggest questions listeners have when it comes to approaching a new audiobook is whether or not they'll enjoy the narration style. This is understandable, as audiobooks are at least a few hours long (with many clocking in at 20 hours long—or more!), and sticking with one person's voice for that time period can feel like a big commitment. We rounded up some of the best female narrators with a robust list of audiobooks under their belts.

such a good story

I loved the Vanderbeekers they are my new favorite book family. They act just like real kids and each and everyone of them is so fleshed out. I never wondered what one kid was doing because they were already doing it. such a great touching story.

Love the story, maybe a different narrator

Very engaging story for upper elementary and middle school. Robin Miles is a good narrator, excellent at changing voices for each character, although some feel a little stereotypical. The main characters are biracial children with an Asian mom and white dad. This never came through in the narration, though. It’s not essential to the plot, but it feels a bit off.

A very sweet and entertaining story

The Vanderbeekers of 141st street is a sweet story with slight adventure and real feelings. My sister and listened to it via audio, and I feel it's directed towards a younger audience, say 2nd to 5th graders. The story was cute; with a few unexpected twists, while all the while sticking to the main theme: one family joined together by the near loss of their beloved home. I would definitely recommend giving this story a go.

Can you say AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh my goodness!!!!!!!!
I loved every bit of it!!!!!
I got a concussion a few days ago and this was not only the best book ever, this did amazing things for my head, and I am only10! When my mom found this for me, I wasn’t that interested with it. But when I neared the end of the book, I was in love. I did not want it to end. Thank you so much Miss.Robin Miles and Miss.Karina Glaser.

Great book!!

I read this on a four hour plane ride, and loved it. I had accidentally purchased the Audible when I purchase the Kindle book, so my 4-year-old and 8-year-old just listened and loved the story. Loved how the kids get along with each other and their parents and worked together as a family.

Amazing

This book is amazing it’s nice wrote and read but I think there’s a lot of repetitive things like they tried to stay at there house did not work so they tried aging but overall 10/10 amazing story I would love if there were more books to go along but I definitely recommend listening or reading this book <3
