Publisher's summary

She found magic in the most unlikely of places.

A cosy, heartwarming and uplifting magical romance about an isolated witch whose opportunity to embrace a quirky new family—and a new love—changes the course of her life.

As one of the few witches in Britain, Mika Moon has lived her life by three rules: hide your magic, keep your head down, and stay away from other witches. An orphan raised by strangers from a young age, Mika is good at being alone, and she doesn't mind it...mostly.

But then an unexpected message arrives, begging her to travel to the remote and mysterious Nowhere House to teach three young witches, and Mika jumps at the chance for a different life.

Nowhere House is nothing like she expects, and she's quickly tangled up in the lives and secrets of its quirky, caring inhabitants...and Jamie, the handsome, prickly librarian who would do anything to protect his charges, and who sees Mika's arrival as a threat. An irritatingly appealing threat.

As Mika finds her feet, the thought of belonging somewhere starts to feel like a real possibility. But magic isn't the only danger in the world, and soon Mika will need to decide whether to risk everything to protect the found family she didn't know she was looking for....

A sweet and heartfelt story about family

This book is cozy and easy to get lost in. It beautifully weaves together a few important intersectional themes in a seamless way. While there were moments where references to Mika’s nannies and caretakers felt a bit frequent, I can appreciate the role they played in shaping the story. I think readers might enjoy being given a bit more space to make those connections themselves, but overall, it adds a meaningful layer to Mika’s journey.

A cosy yet intriguing and mysterious read

Most wonderful book I’ve read in a long time. Felt like a cosy warm hug, but had an element of mystery and intrigue to it as well. The narration was lovely to listen to.

Oh... This piece of work is unbelievable!

If I ever needed to tell somebody which book got me deeply moved, this one would be surely at the top of my list!

I couldn't believe how Sangu Mandanna could be so skilled and sensitive as to express how we should love each other irrespective of our origins. I would feel honoured to get to know her in person! ❤️ Thank you so much, Sangu...

A simple fantasy story

This is a simple fantasy story that didn't really grab me. Yes it has a sweet family taste to it, but for me it was spoiled by unnecessary offensive language. It was like it was added because it somehow upgraded it to an adult story. At times I was tempted to mark it as a DNF and return the book. I didn't so as to see the book through. The narrator was okay but didn't really enhance the story for me.

Fun read, charming story

Loved the story overall. Was a little disappointed that I had guessed some of the ending.

The northern Irish accent was paiiiiiinful which is a pity cause the performance was so good otherwise!

It's a lively book, leaving a warmth in my heart. Easy to listen to in the background.
